10 Must Visit Business Websites

Send this article to Twitter!

I was breezing through Entrepreneur Magazine and they have a nice post on the ten must-visit entrepreneur websites and I thought it was a pretty good list, so check it out. Remember, information is power. It’s not Peter Pan, pie in the sky stuff .

Awww…..look at little Peter. Flying into the sky with all his “theoretical” idea’s. Where’s he going? is he going to the land of practicality?

Peter pan

Peter anaenda wapi?

Remember that song on tv? someni vijana, mtapata kazi nzuri sana; (I dedicate this song to a  friend of mine who claims it was the biggest lie ever perpertrated by the government in post-independence Kenya!) – but since we are now living in a global economy, we have to read. Right? How else are we going to compete with the Chinese who have been “reading” for thousands of years?

What else?

Interesting article in Vanity Fair magazine on how Somali pirates captured a luxury French liner. There’s information in the article on an Andrew Mwangura, who is described as a “middle-man for the pirates, based in Nairobi”. Kenya is becoming one of the main financial hubs for this pirate “business”.

A reader called Jay sent me this link of a farmer in Zambia who now owns one of the largest agri-businesses in that country and he talks about how his business has not been affected by this global economic downturn.

Jim Rogers, the legendary investor who worked for George Soros, is predicting that farmers are going to be driving Lamborghini’s in the next 10 – 20 years ( not bankers). Click here to watch google video’s where he talks about how lucrative farming is going to become.

I’ve said before that the only real producers in Kenya are the farmers.

A must see documentary on how Bush’s tax cuts precipitated the financial crisis in America.  Bush is even dumber than I thought.  This man was utterly clueless.

Looks like the Nation finally has a story out on the child molesting owner of Java House. No mention anywhere in the article that he is a co-owner of Java! Is that responsible journalism by the Nation?

Any interesting stories you’ve read this week? Share them with us here.

Though I disagree with you on many fronts, I love you for this; the education! Apart from reading and writing, I may end up learning more out of school than the entire 8-4-4 years combined. That’s the way it’s meant to be, I guess.

    Open question,

Which site is the most popular for getting financial performance for companies e.g ratio analysis ?

I usually use Businessweek.com but I a times find it in adequate since I like going back to look at the ratio at least three to four years back.

I’m taking any suggestions now. I’m mostly interested in Energy companies ratio analysis and comparisons between years going back at least four years ?

    Noob,

Try Standard and poors, the last time I checked it had all the ratio’s I needed and the ones I did not need.

  4. Nation is being responsible… after all Java House has NOTHING to do with the guy’s proclivities… What a stupid question… Does selling coffee make one randy for under-age girls? Or was he using JH shops as his base?

Bush’s tax cuts were needed… It is stupid to say his cuts were responsible for the financial crisis. The stupidity lies with the borrowers (who either knew they could not afford the higher payments OR were plain idiots) & lenders. Tax cuts are GOOD since most governments are wasteful. The taxpaying public should be allowed to spend the money at their discretion… they earned it… not the government doling out taxpayer funds to welfare queens.

Why do you respond to video postings when you clearly have not watched them? It just makes your answers sound (and I will use your own word here – it makes them sound “stupid”).

Had you actually watched the documentary, you would clearly have seen how bush’s continuous tax cuts, in the face of two wars (afghanistan & Iraq) have contributed to a soaring budget deficit, which have had real word implications in terms of the government being unable to reform their current financial mess. That’s why Bernanke is printing money like crazy. Those tax cuts have wiped out the country’s surplus reserves. And please note, that I used the word “precipitated” which means, that it was not the sole cause of this crisis, but it’s certainly made things worse. Watch the documentary first, then come back and leave a comment.

    On Java House:
Didn’t I already explain to you where I was coming from on this issue? They are a lot of people (and you may not be one of them) who would stop going to an establishment if they knew the owner was molesting children and I am one of those people. I will not give my money to a child molester and I don’t care how good their coffee is. Why can’t you make this simple connection? The Nation should have mentioned that Wagner is a co-owner of a very popular coffee house so that people can decide whether or not they want to give their money to someone who is doing this to children. And every time you buy coffee from Java house, you are putting money into wagners pocket.

KE, thanks for heads up on the Jim Rogers video. How right he is, eh? It’s back to basics.

I didn’t see your comment in the spam folder. Are you sure you posted it? post again and it should show up.

  9. Pysd off: KE, thanks for heads up on the Jim Rogers video. How right he is, eh? It’s back to basics.

Rogers also mentions that too many young people today just don’t want to get their hands dirty. They’ve all been brought up to incorrectly believe that respectable jobs can only be found in an office environment where you sit behind a desk (or in a cubicle) in your 3 piece suit pretending to look very important, but really doing much of anything.

Kazi ya mkono jobs are back in vogue. If you can’t create stuff, then you should take it from the soil in the form of food, minerals, oil, etc, etc,

  10. KE:

On Java House… there are other owners. And I like their coffee.

Do you buy gasoline? Well… it turns out that most oil-exporitng islamic countries (or those that ‘allow’ for islam domination) condone child marriages or paedophilia. I may be wrong but apparently muhammad the prophet married a 9 year old girl (aisha?).

On Tax Cuts: We will have to agree to disagree. Tax cuts are not a ‘benefit’ coz taxes are my money to begin with… And the video was an OPINION not fact. I dislike big government. I would rather spend my own money than have someone spend it for me. Period.

  11. coldtusker: And the video was an OPINION not fact

Did you watch the video? It was a documentary and the reporters who follow washington politics were quoting facts, not opinion: Bush signed quite a few tax cut proposals throughout the course of his 8 years and those tax cuts were signed into law and implemented. Please watch the video because it provides a very, very, thorough explanation of what happened and how it has contributed to this economic crisis that America is currently going through.

    On Java House:
That mzungu would not have gotten away with this kind of behavior in his own country, especially if he had been caught. In Kenya, he’ll probably get off because I’m sure he’ll bribe the judge, but he knows that if he did that in America, he’d be in jail and that’s why he’ll remain in Kenya so he can continue to abuse young girls. What a Sicko.

    @Coldtusker

    “condone child marriages or paedophilia”

Liar, liar, your pants are on fire!

Bring your proof or shut up.

What are you saying exactly? That we should condone paedophilia in Kenya?
