Abu Ghraib

The news stations are no longer interested in talking about hard news. It’s all about Paris Hilton and Rosie O’Donnell and other silly issues. As a result of this hard news drought, I’ve had to hit the internet for my fill up.

I came upon this documentary on the torture scandal at The Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq. The documentary is really about why human beings are so willing to engage in these kinds of primitive acts of violence. What pushes them over the edge?

The film attempts to explain this human penchant for violence through the prism of Abu Ghraib, but it can also be used to explain other acts of violence that have occurred much closer to home (the genocide in Rwanda, the Mungiki beheadings, etc, etc,)

It’s psychology and the shrinks have an explanation for it.
