I am Curious About A Couple of People…

I first heard about this guy {Aly Khan} from reading Bankelele’s website. So, I of course, then went on to see what he was all about. He has his own site and I guess he’s trying to cash in on Kenya’s stock market craze by selling his “expertise”. I think he also has a book out, which claims to teach you how to become rich (who knows?). I don’t know why this guy thinks he has more information than the average Kenyan investor (especially nowadays in the age of the internet). He says he worked in London as a banker; So what? who cares?

Has anyone read his book? What do you think? All these Kenyan radio and tv stations are interviewing him (it must be his British accent – you know how Kenyans love those accents!) – Anything useful here?

Who else? Adan Mohammed, the Managing Director of Barclays Kenya. He has a very compelling personal biography. I’m surprised that he hasn’t pursued the entrepreneurial route, given his background, contacts and networks. How long can you last at the top before you burn out or before they go looking for a younger replacement?

Just Curious…..

  3. just what?

    justly curious…
Khan will most likely earn his keep by being a channel for (UK) diaspora investments as well as advising locals on how to invest overseas.
the media exposure builds the credibility and leadership of his brand, though he could tone it down a bit and gain the power of being ‘mysterious’.

  4. Joe:

Yes – people like jack welch and many others have made millions. I’d like to see if an African executive IN Africa can do the same.

    Just what?
Um…tone it down and be mysterious? What do you mean?

    Banks:

What is Aly khan telling me that I can’t find on the internet or on your blog for that matter? Did you buy his book?
