I Hate Getting Hustled…

This woman I work with has gotten involved with what I believe is a classic pyramid scheme and she’s trying to get me involved.  Initially, I tried to be polite about listening to her talk about it, but now she wants to introduce me to this head schemer and I guess they’re both going to try and hustle me together.

Listen to this silly “business” she’s gotten involved in.  It’s a website that sells all kinds of trinkets (household goods, clothes, pet food, etc, etc) — when you sign up, you are required to spend $200 a month of your own money.  In exchange for this expense, you get “points”.  As these “points” accumulate, you’ll supposedly start getting higher payouts from this “company”.  However, the key to getting even higher payouts is to sign people up to the business and every time they spend their money, you get “points” (for being the person who initially signed them up).

So, of course, her goal is to sign up as money people as she can and have them start spending the $200 dollars a month as soon as possible, so that she can start accumulating points and get her payouts. Why do people fall for this sort of gimmickry?

  1. Grred and gullibility/stupidity in the same person?
They’ve a big spread in the Nation today on this i.e. many after ignoring continous warnings from GoK to avoid these schemes are asking GoK to help them get their money back.

  2. If it’s too good to be true it probably is. Nobody is going to give you their hard earned money for doing virtually nothing.
