Iraq Will Deliver America’s First Black President
The U.S. presidential election is heating up and I am now more and more convinced that Obama is going to win and as I was thinking about this historic shift that is about to take place in America, I had to connect it to the war in Iraq. Yes, Obama, has shown considerable political skill, but without Iraq, I don’t know if he would have even had a chance.
Bush’s decision to invade Iraq has not only destroyed his presidency and his legacy, it has also sowed the seeds of the destruction of the American empire. The Iraq war has now cost the American taxpayers, $700 billion dollars (does this amount sound familar?) – it’s the same amount as the supposed “bailout”. The war has drained America’s financial resources and driven the country into unprecedented debt. The decision by Bush, to launch a war and cut taxes at the same time, has been the major contributing factor of this financial crisis.
However, this is not the first time in history that a superpower nation has been brought down by a third world country. It happened before in 1980. Remember that? It was when the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan. The war in Afghanistan ended up destroying Russia’s financial reserves and it dealt a debilitating blow to the red army. It is no surprise that the Soviet empire collapsed soon after that war.
Iraq has done to America, what Afghanistan did to the Soviet Union.
Had Bush not invaded Iraq, America would not have been in such bad financial shape and Barrack Obama, a black man, would never have been able to win. However, because the effects of this terrible decision have been so devastating, Obama’s chances were greatly increased and Americans saw (for the first time), that middle aged white men were not infallible. i.e. that white men are not necessarily smarter than anyone else and in the case of Bush and Cheney, they could be downright incompetent and dangerous.
So, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the “insurgents” : Hussein, Abdullah and Muhammed (word up to Allah and peace be upon you) – for ensuring, that I, will get to see the first black president of the United States of America.
When i read this blogs from the “tech savvy enlightened Kenyans” (and i use the term enlightened loosely when it comes to some of you) and the hatred each side spews about each other, i truly fear for the future of Kenya
. Back to the Iraq American elections ———–I
ts the economy, not the war so much but THE ECONOMY
. ———-Yall need to take a chill pill before you destroy your country of Kenya
.
koffi,
I don’t know what you’re talking about.
Dick did not have ‘views’, he just didn’t have a work permit.
quote: “…when you know people lose property and DIE for not voting a certain way..” – that is the work of ODM, not the Kibaki government!
ezz,
Corsi was kicked out because of his views..no doubt about that. Does Dick morris ring a bell..that time I “laughed out loud”.
And dont tell us about real freedom, when you know people lose property and DIE for not voting a certain way..what better expression than voting without fear.. .Letting the people decide.
mzeiya wrote: “I must say that I’M PROUD of the KENYA GVT for KICKING THAT CORSI GUY OUT…sorry, DEPORTING HIM back….lol… …..I like the way they were trying to down play the facts , acting like he didn’t have valid visa….while they knew it was just an excuse to get him out. Ha ha,”
mzeiya,
no matter what ppl are telling u wherever you are, there is real freedom of speech/expression in kenya today and anyone is allowed to say whatever they want. (That’s how ODM managed to get away with murder). So corsi was not kicked out because of his views!

We are entering a global era of self reliance and self dependence.”
Our own President Kibaki belongs to the first lot (progressive and enlightened), not the second. He has been spearheading exactly what you are advocating (self reliance and self dependence), and that’s why the ‘donors’ have been so much against him. The PM on the other hand rightly belongs in the latter group, and is busy beeing propped up by them to reverse any gains or moves made in the right direction.
ITS THE ECONOMY STUPID!!!!!!
KE,
Actually the war in Iraq helped McCain more than Obama. We must win the war were McCain’s talking points and he always reminds people how he was a POW. A month ago people were actually split between the two candidates until the economy tanked and the war in Iraq fell off as a priority, this gave Obama a huge bounce as just about every American ( ofcourse excluding conservative Republicans) is more concerned about their 401k’s and foreclosures, than they are about the war. Obama is doing well right now because he has a better grasp of the economy than McCain and plus it doesnt hurt that he is being coached by the welathiest man in the world. So if anything, your topic should have read Wall Street will deliver America’s first Black President. And I’m sure you know all Fox News is a post like this from a Kenyan blog to incite fear among Americans

I don’t buy the proposition that fighting can be a solution in Africa. In Africa, fighting will never be a solution. It will only exacerbate the very problems it is meant to solve and this is a lesson that we should have learnt by now.
A glance at Somalia, Ethiopia, Congo, Sierra Leone, Angola, Mozambique, Uganda and recently Kenya is certainly plain for you to see. The above named countries have certainly gone back decades because of fighting. Fighting drains much needed resources from the continent. And it also sows seeds for future conflict.
Have you heard that Rwanda has invaded Congo again? This means that all those gains Kagame has made will come back to NIL in a few years time.
What about talking and cooperation? Is this surely not a better way of resolving things than fighting?
Europe learnt its bitter lesson in 1945 after 2000 years of warfare with each other. They formed the EU in 1950 and resolved never to go to war against each other again. And look how well they have done for themselves.
Africans need a brainwave to lay down their weapons unless when the CONTINENT faces external aggression.

McCain looked like a robot during the recent debate. I think the guy is seriously ill.
Kei O once again agree with you on all counts! Yes jingoistic jealousy is part of it for sure and yes, Koffi Anan was an abysmal failure (he only gained legitimacy in my eyes after his Kenyan intervention and I am very impressed with what he is doing with AGRA post UN tenure)
And yes he is WORSHIPPED in Ghana.

The Iraq war would have helped anyone vying for the presidency, so long as he was on the opposite end of the argument.
This war is a catastrophe, costing unnecessry billions with no tangible benefits, why did the US Invade Iraq again ?
so KE, This war factor would have helped whoever was in the race not just Barrack Obama. I honestly do not believe it’s the reason where he is.
People are getting fed up with the republican tactics of war mongering and scare and smear tactics.
have u ever listened to or read Obama’s policies? Most haven’t, they are swayed by the hype they hear and perception
Sijui
I suspect the real reason why Ghanaians are not so enthused by the Obama prospects is because he is not of Ghanaian origin.
Did they say the same thing when their own Koffi Annan was chosen as the first black head of the UN some years back? I don’t think so. They actually celebrated. So let them spare us this hypocrisy.
By the way, Koffi Annan’s tenure at the UN was quite disastrous for Africa – having overseen the genocide in Rwanda and the disintegration of Congo and Somalia.
Nerimae:
I sometimes think that people read these posts in a hurry and just don’t get the essence of what they mean or even sometimes totally miss the point.
Sigh
To say that the iraq war, which has cost 700 billion dollars so far (and counting) has nothing to do with the current financial crisis, is just plain silly. I didn’t say iraq was the ONLY cause. I said it was a major factor and it was.
To then further say that iraq has nothing to do with obama’s success is just to be removed from reality.
The Bush presidency began to descend when the war in iraq began to descend.
Why do people have such a myopic view of world events?
Let me correct you if I may. The war in Iraq is not the reason why we are having a financial crisis or why the Feds had to pass a $700 Billion bailout. Subprime lending, spending over our means ( not saving) and greed in Wallstreet are the reasons why we are where we are. Iraq is a small dent in this whole picture. I am an ardent Obama supporter and I realize that posts with headings like the one you have, are all Conservative Republicans need to incite fear in American people thus costing Obama the Presidency. Iraq has nothing to do with his success thus forth, let us not undermine the hardwork both he and his staffers/volunteers have put in to get him here. If people vote on issues, where the Economy is number 1, Obama will win. If they vote on fears, i’m afraid to say that posts like yours will unintentionally help the Republicans. 26 days to go, Yes we can!!!!
Unless I am mistaken… the koran allows for slavery. From my meager understanding of muhamed’s life, he owned slaves… and somehow I doubt they are were not white or yellow…
http://www.answering-islam.org/Silas/slavery.htm
and please don’t ask ali mazrui about slavery… the mwarabu thinks slavery was islam’s gift to the black man…
http://www.westafricareview.com/vol1.2/gates.html
and castration was very common… u will notice that eunuchs appear more commonly in arabic/muslim literature esp in reference to slaves…
(I am not justifying Western slavery… just that islam and black has not been a benign relationship)
Koffi, count my husband as Exhibit # 1, he has been cool on Obama from day one, and outright hostile during the primaries when he supported Clinton. His reasoning, Obama is a green horn who should wait his turn.
We have agreed to disagree on this point, but perhaps there are a lot of people who harbor this suspicion and/or resentment and then there is of course reverse racism-the belief amongst Blacks that Obama can’t make it because he’ll never get White support.
Kei O
I Think fighting is necessary. you have to fight for your rights. The fatalities and casualties are the sad part, but I believe pple need to fight for their rights.
I’m looking at the example in Zimbabwe for instance and seeing why fighting for the cause is importatnt. Right now, Zim has 10 mil ppl. World food aid estimates that half of them will need , if not already in need of food aid early next year coz they’ll literally have nada to eat.
right now they’re resorting to eating panyas. I find the Zim people to be too laid back / timid / not couregous, I really don’t know what to call them but they have to realize that it is only themselves that can get them out of this mess they’re in. I don’t think Zim has any substantial natural resources such as Oil that would incetivize the west to help. all the west will do is point a finger at mugabe and revoke his visa = doing nothing at all.
In kenya, the violence that came forced the international community to step in,and Koffi came and mediated the peace process. At times they’re is a price to pay for peace and freedom.
KE
On Obama, The iraq war would be enough reason to get anyone in the whitehouse. Even if Kucinich had won the primary, so long as he hammered the “iraq war ” cry he’d be in. I honestly think people are tired of the same old same old white faces saying the same old same old things.
However, as Kei O Pointed out, let’s not celebrate yet. Remember, the reality is that Obama is still a black man in America and the South is still the South..still living in civil war nostalgia even tho those events happened over 150 years ago….
I must say that I’M PROUD of the KENYA GVT for KICKING THAT CORSI GUY OUT…sorry, DEPORTING HIM back….lol…it feels so good to say that. That guy is a weasel and I’m sure glad the kenya gava caught on to him. tHEY WERE LIKE ” If u want to smear Obama, not in kenya and u have to be out”
I like the way they were trying to down play the facts , acting like he didn’t have valid visa….while they knew it was just an excuse to get him out. Ha ha, Kenya is finally learning to play the white man game of getting crude things and justyfying it with polite language diplomacy…That is very American infact.
And as for the article in the Business Daily condemning the gava’s action and saying that kenya should be seen as somewhere tolerance is practised, all I can tell that misguided editor is that he can kiss my ass!!
The Gava did good in what it did in deporting that weasel corsi.
Sijui,
I know u’ve west african ties….and I don’t know what it is especially with Ghanians…they can’t stand Obama. Why do u think this is?
Anyway, I think it will be good for africa to become self-reliant.
KE,
Obama right now is winning because of the economy, If the main issue were to shift back to Iraq, mccain would win….but its true were it not for Iraq war he could have lost the primaries. But that is what politicians do, take an issue…dumbia=terrorism, giuliani-911, AlGore-global warming, etc. That means Obama is as a smart politician as white politicians.
Sijui
I still wonder why Kenyans killed one another over an election dispute. Still beats me.
This is why I think that your positive outlook on self-reliance may be a little premature. You cannot have self-reliance without integration and you cannot have intergration when there is fighting.
The first lesson that Africans should learn is NO FIGHTING – no matter what the political differences.
NO FIGHTING, NO FIGHTING, NO FIGHTING – just like kindergaten.
KE could not agree with you more on this! I think the spector of an Obama presidency is wonderful for three reasons:
1) Obama will do nothing for Africa and the aid taps will dry up completely. The farce will finally be revealed for what it is.
2) the collapse of the Western financial system PROVES their infallibility and more so SHAMES Africans in to relying on their OWN intellectual resources and instincts. We have such a low self esteem, majority of us and that is why we coddle and make excuses for mediocrity and incompetence.
3) The progressive and enlightened brand of leaders will be encouraged and emboldened, the likes of Akuffo Addo, Khama, Kikwete, Kagame……if this guy can make it so can we (the intellectual divide is gone, and it is solely now a battle of competence and ideas between this crop of leaders and the Obamas, Sarkozys and Camerons of this world) the charlatans and embarassments like Zuma et al (including Kenya’s own President and PM) will have no crutch to rely on. We are entering a global era of self reliance and self dependence.
You sink or swim on your own.
I feel like Americans would be crazy to bring in McPain and Pain for even a night. But you never know…in case they do, Obama is black, so we can always say that the race factor brought him down (which would most likely be true, naamini). Someone even thought he’s lucky to be black.
I’ve never been sure America is as open as they would have us believe.
KE
Hold your horses; its not yet time to bring out the champagne glasses.
The election may still yet be stolen through voter disenfranchisation. Do a bit of diddging on this issue and you will see what I mean.
Its not over till its over.
KE
Are you really for OBAMA? You last lines Betray you !!!!
…….So, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the “insurgents” : Hussein, Abdullah and Muhammed (word up to Allah and peace be upon you) – for ensuring, that I, will get to see the first black president of the United States of America……………..
One can tell a joyous/wicked heart from how they talk !!!
