koffi,
I don't know what you're talking about.
Dick did not have 'views', he just didn't have a work permit.
quote: "...when you know people lose property and DIE for not voting a certain way.." - that is the work of ODM, not the Kibaki government!

ezz,
Corsi was kicked out because of his views..no doubt about that. Does Dick morris ring a bell..that time I "laughed out loud".
And dont tell us about real freedom, when you know people lose property and DIE for not voting a certain way..what better expression than voting without fear.. .Letting the people decide.

mzeiya,
no matter what ppl are telling u wherever you are, there is real freedom of speech/expression in kenya today and anyone is allowed to say whatever they want. (That's how ODM managed to get away with murder). So corsi was not kicked out because of his views!

Our own President Kibaki belongs to the first lot (progressive and enlightened), not the second. He has been spearheading exactly what you are advocating (self reliance and self dependence), and that's why the 'donors' have been so much against him. The PM on the other hand rightly belongs in the latter group, and is busy beeing propped up by them to reverse any gains or moves made in the right direction.

KE,
Actually the war in Iraq helped McCain more than Obama. We must win the war were McCain's talking points and he always reminds people how he was a POW. A month ago people were actually split between the two candidates until the economy tanked and the war in Iraq fell off as a priority, this gave Obama a huge bounce as just about every American ( ofcourse excluding conservative Republicans) is more concerned about their 401k's and foreclosures, than they are about the war. Obama is doing well right now because he has a better grasp of the economy than McCain and plus it doesnt hurt that he is being coached by the welathiest man in the world. So if anything, your topic should have read Wall Street will deliver America's first Black President. And I'm sure you know all Fox News is a post like this from a Kenyan blog to incite fear among Americans

Mzeiya

I don't buy the proposition that fighting can be a solution in Africa. In Africa, fighting will never be a solution. It will only exacerbate the very problems it is meant to solve and this is a lesson that we should have learnt by now.

A glance at Somalia, Ethiopia, Congo, Sierra Leone, Angola, Mozambique, Uganda and recently Kenya is certainly plain for you to see. The above named countries have certainly gone back decades because of fighting. Fighting drains much needed resources from the continent. And it also sows seeds for future conflict.

Have you heard that Rwanda has invaded Congo again? This means that all those gains Kagame has made will come back to NIL in a few years time.

What about talking and cooperation? Is this surely not a better way of resolving things than fighting?

Europe learnt its bitter lesson in 1945 after 2000 years of warfare with each other. They formed the EU in 1950 and resolved never to go to war against each other again. And look how well they have done for themselves.

Africans need a brainwave to lay down their weapons unless when the CONTINENT faces external aggression.

*****

McCain looked like a robot during the recent debate. I think the guy is seriously ill.

Kei O once again agree with you on all counts! Yes jingoistic jealousy is part of it for sure and yes, Koffi Anan was an abysmal failure (he only gained legitimacy in my eyes after his Kenyan intervention and I am very impressed with what he is doing with AGRA post UN tenure)

And yes he is WORSHIPPED in Ghana.
