Is Kibaki Going Down?

Anti-Kikuyu Fervor?
Not enough people feeling the effects of this growing economy?
The arrogance of Kibaki’s “boys”? (people like Michuki and his raid on the standard)
I predicted Kibaki would win, but they’re these things called polls that are getting in the way of my prediction. I tend to believe polls because they are generally right. I have no reason to believe that the polls in Kenya are being manipulated (why do people believe that?).
So, what’s happening to Kibaki (if these polls are to be believed?). The economy is growing by 8% — what the hecks’ the problem?
I just hope that the Kenyan army sends out a clear signal to everyone — if you lose, you have to step down. The army is the only institution in Kenya that is tribally balanced and fair and it is the only institution that has prevented that country from descending into civil war.
Right now, it looks like it’s too close to call.
Kibaki is going to lose because he represent the old ” order” ; He has made this election to be about kikuyus vs everybodyelse. His campaign is disorganised ;they did spent whole weekend bashing Raila.
Kibaki will get re-elected in-spite of wazee. Tizama uone!
6% economic grown… Raila 48% popularity… !! Personally I’m getting tired of these figures, how reliable are they anyway. The economy may have grown, but last time i checked, Kibera, Kangemi, Mathare and other slums are getting bigger.. Raila may be more popular according to Stedman, but thousands are still screaming “Kibaki Tena”..Better the devil you know than the one you don’t!..
Kibaki lacks reform credentials, he has done nothing about the corruption , and kikuyus ae holding most the the senior. He is sleeping with Moi and Kamlesh. The only people who genuinely thinks Kibaki will be reelected are Kikuyu chauvinists and those political elite who have benefited from the system
Njoroge aka Onyango:
This is the problem I have with Raila’s supporters. I think they incorrectly assume that electing him president is going to change their financial “fortunes” overnight. I’d like him to go after the stolen wealth and use it to finance something like free secondary education, but beyond that, he needs to leave private businesses alone and let them do their thing.
And contrary to popular belief, most Kikuyu’s are not rich, just as most Kalenjins are not rich. It’s only a few that really benefited from the corruption and that’s why I have no problem with him going after those “few”.
Nobody sugesting that most kikuyu are rich, the only one who have benefitted are the ” elites”. Kibaki is a captive of these corrupt people and that is why he is not going after them. Raila presidency will curb corruption ,ensure equitable distribution of the govt resources and give us new constitution.
What does “equitable distribution of resources mean”?
Govt appointments should not be skewed to one tribe and Nyeri should not receive roads funds more than a whole province.
Annon:
On government appointments:
I’ve gotten to the point where I now expect the most important government appointments to go to the members of the president’s tribe and that would actually be ok with me if the people appointed were competent. Thus, if Raila does in fact become president and if he ends up appointing Luo’s to the most important parastatals, I honestly would not care as long as they were competent. The problem with Moi was that the Kalenjins he was appointing were not competent and they ended up ruining everything.
Let me ask you a question: is having a bunch of Kikuyu’s (or whomever) running parastatals affecting your ability to derive an income? Are they creating situations that make it difficult for members of the other tribes to make money? Like I said, Raila can make all the ministers luo’s and I wouldn’t care, as long as it did not affect my ability to earn a living.
On roads:
I’ve never understood why the government doesn’t implement a national highway system and connect all parts of the country. I just don’t get it.
Speaking in Nakuru where he took his re-election campaign on Saturday, the President urged Kenyans to carefully scrutinise his opponents’ track record before casting votes in their favour.
“You should not experiment or gamble with your lives. You need to ask yourself what some of these leaders have achieved in the past, some of them having been in the government,” the president said.
The outcome of the elections, the President said, would have profound impact on their future lives of Kenyans, and urged them to choose wisely and cast their votes in large numbers.
i know there are 2 things killing us as kenyans, corruption and tribalism. kikuyus r being alienated by the rest of kenyans. the presi tells them to vote in numbers even the sick! what we need is a radical who thinks of Kenya into the next 50years. look at USA, they have strategic oil reserves to run the american economy for 5years in case of emergency. we only think 2007&2012. am giving raila a chance to prove himself, let alone the hate being spread about him. u&i are the ordinery kenyans who suffer as politicians enrich themselves. lets vote in faith this time just like we resolved in 2002.

I do think that if Kibaki wins again, we’ll need a much younger president after him. These oldies have to go (don’t they get tired of working??)
If I had $100 million dollars and I was 75 years old, I would not be working.
Personally, I care less if Kibaki loads all government jobs with Kikuyu’s so long as they are qualified and do a good job. The main reason why I will NOT vote for Kibaki is because of Anglo leasing. A government that does not know who they contracted billions and who wired money back into the accounts deserved impeachment not another 5 years. Kibaki was either directly involved with Anglo leasing or grosely incompetent – that is why he doesn’t deserve another 5 years.
On the contrary i think kibaki has done something but the fact that he has done tribalism in gvt appointments will cost him.i dont understand how in a country of 42 tribes only kikuyus are kra commissioners!!and we all pay taxes!
