Jackson Kibor: The Retaliation Has Begun…

I said here a month ago that the Kalenjins who planned the violence in the rift valley were going to pay a price for their actions. You can’t kill 1000 people, displace half a million of them and get away with it. Now, it appears like the retaliation has begun with the arrest of this former KANU Stalwart Jackson Kibor.

It has started earlier than I thought it would, but it has begun (I thought they’d first try and re-organize the security forces & then in 2 years begin the retaliation, but they’re obviously rushing it). Do you see why I’m telling you that these Annan talks are a waste of time? Annan has no clue what’s going on. He’s busy conducting these”secret” negotiations in Kilaguni while Kibaki is picking up these people at night.

They’re not going to kill Kibor (he’s too well known and his too old), but they’re going to get a whole list of names from him and things are going to start happening.

William Ruto thought Raila would be the president and that would protect him from his evil deeds. Big mistake. Very big mistake.

Again, I repeat. Kibaki must dismantle these Kalenjin militia’s before he leaves office in 2012.

I am amazed to see how shallow we think. people in here talking about tribal division and tit for tat. kalenjin these , kikuyu that. nonsense. We need to remember that the root cause of violence in kenya has been trbalism. for a society to prosper ignorance got to be eradicated in all aspects, forms or shapes. tribalism and racism has no place in modern society. violence that took place in kenya during the elections is something that has been groom for my years past. kalenjins killing the kikuyus and kikuyus killing the kalenjins has been happening for years. the scale and scoop of the last violence got peoples attention. violence is not a new thing in kenya. As educated citiziens of kenya, we need to find real and lasting solution to the reasons behind the hate. Arresting one or a few kalenjins or kikuyus is not going to solve the problem. the hate will grow and vester even further than you can imagine. the killings will continue . violence will take another shape and i am sorry to tell you that civil war will occur. What happened in kenya is a problem that should be dealt with openly and fairly. we need to address the root cause dig deep in order to uproot the evil and build a new kenya. When i was a young boy ,i used to hear kalenjins say that kikuyus are evil and thieves. they did not like the idea of kikuyus coming to our towns setting shop looking down on the locals. i am now a grown man and people have the same notions. The government is notgoing to solve this problem by arresting people and putting them in jail. As kenyans , we have huge problems that we need to deal with on our own. I am kalenjin. i weep and cry for our country. Moi and his crew strip the country bare. kibaki and his boys are having thier share. we do not have leadership whatsoever. Riala is the only one trying. Everyone seems to be fighting for their own. We have a do nothing, corrupt parliament. The kenyan people are left to fend for themsleves. Let us give power to our people through education. what is the role of government in thier life. we need a working goverment to lead us. Ignorance and corruption out and you will see a kenya that the world will envy.

    BRYAN:

Kales are hardworking and own big companies ?

that may be true but a bunch of y’all were responsible for the massive collpases of big parastatals such as KNAC. Kenya national assurance company which was brought down by ODM chairman henry Kosgey. How do yu bring down a company that has virtual monopoly on government insurance contracts ? what type of greed/lack of foresight and vision is needed for that ?

Isaiah kiplagat: This guy should be given a “medal” for singlehandedly mismanaging the safari rally franchize managemnet in kenya to a point of no return. Safari rally was big in kenya and the world, but it started declining when they put some of these kaleos in charge. right now safari rally is considering cancelling it altogether.

Eric Kotut: this “central banker” was responsible for printing money like tissue paper in 92-93 leading to kenya’s biggest infaltion.was this the time of goldenberg too ? Yes. does he own a huge rose export company in karen with proceeds from these deals ? yes? does he have pending court cases due to corruption allegations ? yes ?

William Ruto : let’s not even go there with all the blood he has on his hands.

The one competent kaleo that stands out is Julis Kipng’etich chariman of KWS. This guys is a wonder guy, he’s shown real business leadership and turned KWS to a multi billion profit machine.

Samuel; Chepkonga: this guy was chairman of the CCK at the time when they retsrianed competition and allowed only kencell and safaricom to continue charging kenyans exhorbitant rates. could this be coz Gideon Moi and Biwott had equity in safaricom thru mobitelea and Moi had equity in kencell thru his equity in sameer group ?

Esther Koimett is another exception, the tresury investment secretary. she’s done a good job divesting government assets to the public

trust me man………. every kaleo, when being transformed into adulthood [Circumcised], they are all trained to protect the community against any calamity, that explains why all kaleo guys know how to fix them arrows and bows. Mungiki’s are just gangs, killing their fellow kikuyus, robbing their fellow kikuyus, and maiming their fellow kikuyus. Us kales dont do such silly things.

And regarding u feeling special…….. its about time you embraced other communities, kales are a friendly people, that explains why we have co-existed in eldy and other towns peacefully all along! But dont get bossy and think that you are more hardworking thatn the natives, or feel sweet…. Kales are as hardworking as any other community, thats why we also own big time companies, big time farmers, big time business peeps.. Kenyatta gave you guys a head start, you wree given millions of shillings from the now defunct KDC, in the late 70s and 80s which no kikuyu ever repayed plus our land.

Now let the truth be told via the formation of the truth and reconcilliation comm. thanks to PM Raila, lets face the truth fellows!

Atleast some respect as to follow now, never should any Kenyan community feel “special” than other guys, Watch this space and you will notice that most kikuyus who’ll want to get back to their business in Eldy, and other Kenyan Towns will begin embracing such sober minded Kikuyus like Mutahi Ngunyi, Kiai….. and not the likes of Martha [Too bad -hardliner].

    KALE :

If u guys put all that physical aggression in your brains, it would really do your community good.

I wish you guys could learn how to fight with your brains…but it seems that’s impossible coz even after 24 years of being in power, you guys have not moved on.

I think you guys got so complacent in those years, the last 5 years have been like a harsh winter where you actually have to work to put bread on the table.

Lakini mtazoea. even before all this anti kyuk think started, you guys were still beffing with each other over cattle raids ? I mean c’mon you guys still steal each other’s ng’ombe ? even after 24 years of advantage ?
    hiyo ni maendeleo gani ?

kyuks will never ever win a war against kale’s. good luck dealing with mungiki in central province. ever had of collateral damage?????. The big kaleo army still exists. we are 11% of the kenyan population but make up 60% of the kenya army  why do u think kale’s are so confident???. ATI those kalenjin “warriors” humbled the mungiki in Eldie ?

you are mistaken. Those “Warriors” killed women and children in Eldie.

Where were these “warriors” when kyuks were fighting Mzungu before independence ?

So sad guys! the problem we have currently is of people from certain ethnic communities especially the Kikuyu thinking that they are “more Kenyan, than other communities” well it just dawned on them that Kenya is apparently bigger and has more equally Kenyan communities than them! Am amazed by the turn of events.. even their feared mungiki gangs was nothing compared to the Kalenjin Warriors! they humbled them in eldy drove them out of kericho, londiani,… and Nakuru… were in not for the curfew… all kyuks would have been in Tiny Central!!! :!: :!:

Kikuyus have this mentality that they fought 4 independence… to be sincere, mau mau was a criminal gang that were squatters, infact if there is one tribe that collaborated with the colonialists are kikuyus.. what of kina michuki, who was an askari then a chief… then MP then…

Other communities in the coastal, and western kenya resitsed the colonialists, kina nabongo mumia, orkoiyot arap samoei of the Kalenjin…. so My kikuyu friends technically never fought 4 independence infact we were given it on a silver platter during the Lancaster visit… ask kina Njonjo, Moi, Oneko

The end is near for who? Kenya is at a crossroad in its history and all you can talk about is this. We as Kenyans happen to be very dumb and grossly overestimate our importance. Wasn’t it just last year that the government and Kenyans were talking about creating jobs by instituting call centers for American companies. Something that India has successfully done in the near past. Such crazy ideas are just an example. Why would an astute American business institute and trust American credit card and consumer info with a country that has been regarded as one of the most corrupt in the world next to Sierra Leone and Liberia. A SWOT analysis of Kenya would put as to shame. We should realize that as we fall deeper into economic and diplomatic abyss, other competitors move on and/or ,gain more and more ground. It is now obvious that our Constitution stands between us and prosperity, or equality. The status quo has decided that our current Constitution has served us well for 40 yrs. Then why are we so poor, disunited, disenfranchised, dishonest, poor, insecure.
Someone said the other day that our police and armed forces are working under inhumane , and dangerous conditions. Any civilized country generally has a peaceful co-existence among its citizenry. Kibaki has just proven that he is a village elder, his actions such as those of Moi and Kenyatta prove that the sooner he disappears, the faster Kenya will move forward.
All the corrupt deals and ridiculous scandals in the past 5 years should have been enough to bring an ethical government o resign.Only in Kenya and collapsed states does a government exist, that has been implicated on so much wrongs on its citizenry. Some have said Odinga should resign. To them I ask, how can you resign from the opposition. People resign from Govt., it is you who holds the vestiges of power, it is our children that we put in your trust, that you may use all disposable power conferred by the Constitution to PROTECT US. Protect us from those who want to intimidate us, don’t join them, arrest those who steal our hard earned tax shillings, don’t encourage them, stop those who try to break the law, including the police. When you were sworn in as President, the burden of the nation was on you. The buck stops at the guy carrying the bible. What we hold so dear to us Kenyans such as the Constitution should not be treated like a toilet paper by the President. You, sir are supposed to be one of the most honourable people in the land
Is this the Kenya we fought Uhuru for, if that is the case then in the words of Jaramogi, “NOT YET UHURU”. You see a prophet is not appreciated in his own land. Do we have to go all the way to America
to gain leadership. You see you dont gain leadership by running in front of everyone, you gain leadership by by people running to stand beside you. So when the international world and Africans in particular are gunning for an Obama win for all Africans. You Africans in his homeland are trying to show HOW NOT TO LEAD. My Brothers, this could really dent the man’s chances because now all of Kenya is before the world , literally. When they look at the so called Africans and Kenyans who are supposed to be intelligent, gentle, peaceful, fun loving people, all they see is that thug behind the seat, because you did not even choose him. He chose himself above all other Kenyans.
At this moment we should be arguing about how we will award Obama’s citizenship for him being a Kenyan about to lead the most powerful nation. You do the math, an inside thing like this, coupled with a perfect election would be lining us up for the biggest tourism explosion in 2008. Forget 6% increase in 5 yrs, we would have had a 20% increase in at least a year. This blog is Kenyanenterpreneur, wrap your mind around those mind boggling numbers, and these would just be conservative estimates. For Mr. Kimunya, Martha Karua, Dr. Wetangula, Alfie Mutua, continuing to abuse our potential biggest trade partners and shunning them away, is not a good economic strategic thinking. Do you realize that most diAsporans live in these areas. The same people who remit $1billion dollars to Kenya, Kenya doesn’t remit $1billion dollars to the west. We are going the Zimbabwe way, and the so called economist, forward thinking, democratic Kibaki government keep making blunder after blunder. These old men we are starting to see could not organize a shag in a brothel. Economic advancement is strategic long term planning and lobbying. And it is evident who is lobbying against Kenya in front of the world, and who is lobbying for us.
Again I repeat, when history is analysed, since we are living it right now, PNU party will be found to have a poisonous party in the strategic planning for Vision 2030. All they have done at this moment is to subversively plant themselves in Power, and wreck Kenya from within. Why would someone even suggest that they will not have a an executive PM. Wouldn’t Kibaki have loved such an aUtonomous, protected and powerful position during Mois days. Or would he have said ,”No Mzee, wewe ndiye baba na mama, fuata Nyayo. We don’t want a democracy”. How more democratic can we get than wanting a well balanced government where each autonomous arm is free of the other. We can see who is selfish and is only interested in self preservation.
Right now I am seriously thinking of divesting my hard earned money from Kenya, before it becomes worthless the Zimbabwe or Zaire way. Even if the illegitimate PNU govt were to stay in power, how would they come back from the impunity they have shown our biggest trading partners. Yes we can wean ourselves from Foreign Aid, but not foreign goodwill in a global economy. Kenya wants to be like Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, and the emerging countries such as India and Brazil. Now we are proving that we are still far away, and even further with the current government. The wind of change is blowing for Africa, and we are steadily going against it.

Our pride is not based on being in rift valley. Our pride is based on th fact that we know who we are, we know our potential, and we know we can survive anywhere anytime of the day.Moi knows it, Raila knows it and the Kalle and luos know it. Killing our tribesmen doesnt make us any less proud. The poverty of some peole in kenya is not with the issue of presidency, theyve been president for 25 years after all. Their minds arre the problem. People who think the can conquer the world in this century using bows and arrows. Modern wars are fought in the mind. I mourn kenyans who have been killed by crude thinking unlearned kenyans. But im a proud kikuyu and a proud kenyan. If you cant live with that… Go to hell. I dont need land in R.Valley, theres no useful land to but in Nyanza, there are better investment opportunities both in and out of teh country. So if you think the only viable investment is in rift valley, youre one lost unlearned kenyan!

How many Kalenjins have settled and own any property in central Kenya? zero. about Mzee Kibor just watch this space. 57% of the total deaths was as a result of injuries inflicted by crude weapons
43% of the total deaths was as a result of gunshot wounds

In Kisumu… 100% of the victims died of gunshot wounds

    KE,

ODM have been saying that Kibaki is delibertaely using delaying tactics with these mediation talks.

Despite ODM always payukaring gibberish, I think they have a point. Every time Annan says he’s near a breakthru, it never comes. PNU Guys always go to do “further consultations” with their top brass.

I think ODM Is right, PNU is buying time and using delaying tactics.

I think Kibaki’s strategy is to delay these talks as much as possible while at the same time using double speak, Like yesterday when he applauded the work being done by Kofi Annan, yet ddeliberately delaying the talks…politics….kweli..

However, My assumption is that he’s delaying these talks while at the same time going after the kilers, murderers and perpetrators of genocide.

I think he’s also trying to deal with these Kale Militias in the R.V.

i BELIEVE he’s trying to finish them and once that is done, he knows ODM will not have anything to fall back on.

ODM knowing they can’t mobilize their assassins, they’ll be forced to accept the ofer kibaki puts out. Remember, the cabinet is still half full, there’s still all those other “less relevant” ministries. as someone said, it’s better two slices of bread than no bread at all.

That way, Kibaki will say he did indeed “share power” within the limitations of the constitution.
But b4 all that , he has to eliminate all the threats.

THAT’S JUST my opinion of what’s going on. it may or not eb the case but time will tell

Kenya: The truth about the Naivasha killings

    February 10, 2008 03:16 PM

As the repercussions of inter-tribal clashes dawn upon Kenyans, more light is being shed on how they were planned and executed. One of the worst revenge attacks which left dozens dead or maimed, was experienced in Naivasha town in the Rift Valley. Using eyewitness accounts from survivors, Odhiambo T. Oketch reports about the horror faced by victimized residents before and after the attacks.

I have been to Naivasha on two occasions to help

evacuate some of my relatives who were victims of the violence that took place in Naivasha.

The first time, we did not get the gory details of what took place, and I bet, the press is afraid of bringing some of these planned murders and killings in Naivasha to the fore.

We must have the courage to face the truth and confront the same, then talk of the healing process. If we sweep this under the rug, we are doing nothing.

    Politicians and administrative officers involved

The Naivasha Massacre was planned in complicity with government agencies. The police were informed, and they only brought officers who were not armed to confront the murderous Mungiki (banned militia) team.

The DC (District Commissioner) was in the picture, as some of the politicians who had lost in the recent general elections. They were well coordinated by donations from some current cabinet ministers and the pangas (machetes) that they used were bought at the Shamba Hardware store in Naivasha town.

When the Mungiki were to strike on the January 27, 2008, the prison warders came out and thwarted all their moves. They retreated so that orders could be made to bar the prison warders from coming out in support of non-Kikuyus who were the target.

When they struck the second time, they were under police escort, and they specifically killed Luos, in a systematic way. They torched their houses and chased them like rats in town.

When the Luo organized themselves to hit back, the police shot at the them instead. This went on for three days. Within this time, the Mungiki murderers were housed at LakeSide and Silver Hotels.

They used to come to town at 6:00 am, reign terror until 6:00 pm when they retreated to their hotels to brief their paymasters, chief among them former and current MPs.

The Naivasha Massacre of the Luos was well planned in a meeting attended by politicians like Uhuru Kenyatta and Jayne Kihara among others, and top businessmen such as Chris Kirubi, Jimna Mbaru, and George Muhoho.

They were annoyed that it is the Luo who had made things elephant for them. They hence came up with a plan that hitting at the Luo would be the best thing. They did not look at the fact that it is the Kalenjin who removed them mostly from the Rift Valley. They thought that it was the Luo who had made the Kalenjin do that.

Biased Red Cross and Mungiki paymasters

The Kenya Red Cross Society that has been acclaimed as one of the best relief support agencies, did not come to the aid of the internally displaced persons (IDPs) at Naivasha Prisons for a whole 3 days, yet, they were in Burnt Forest and Eldoret within hours of the fracas breaking out.

It came out that the Red Cross, just like the government, was partisan in addressing the problems. In the case of Naivasha, the Red Cross and the government were looking at it as a Luo affair, not a Kenyan affair.

This partisan approach to the massacre has exposed the Red Cross as a dishonest agency.

When the Mungiki youths went to Kabati cemetery for oath-taking, the police were very much in the picture. When they ransacked Kabati Estate, the police looked helpless. When the people ran to Naivasha Prisons for safety, the police moved in on the road, armed and ready to shoot at anyone who dared come out of the prison.

I reckon they should have been engaging the Mungiki so that they could save non-Kikuyu property, but they only escorted them on the macabre mission.

The world must know the truth. And it is this truth that will set us free.

Why were Kikuyus hell bent on eliminating Luos from Naivasha, when it is a known fact that Luos never killed any kikuyu in Nyanza at the beginning of the evictions?

Why were Kikuyus in Naivasha cheering and telling Luos that they wanted Majimbo (regionalism), yet now had to be evicted?

Why were the police under instructions to safeguard Mungiki, and to shoot to kill at any show of resistance, people who stood helpless as their houses were being burnt and their people killed as they watched?

It is time to make clear distinctions; those who shout loudest about crimes against humanity, are the main paymasters of the murderous Mungiki sect.

The end is near for who? Kenya is at a crossroad in its history and all you can talk about is this. We as Kenyans happen to be very dumb and grossly overestimate our importance. Wasn’t it just last year that the government and Kenyans were talking about creating jobs by instituting call centers for American companies. Something that India has successfully done in the near past. such crazy ideas are just an example, why would you institute and trust American credit card and consumer info with a country that has been regarded as one of the most corrupt in the world. A SWOT analysis of Kenya would put as to shame. We should realize that as we fall deeper into economic and diplomatic abyss, others move on and/or ,gain more and more ground.
Any civilized country has a peaceful co-existence. Kibaki has just proven that he is a villager elder, his actions such as those of Moi and Kenyatta, prove that the sooner he goes. the quicker forward all Kenyans will move forward. All the corrupt deals forces you to resign, only in Kenya don’t govt leaders resign if it is found that they have been compromised. some have said Agwambo should resign. To them I ask, how can you resign from the opposition. People resign from Govt., it is you who holds the vestiges of power, it is our children that we put in your trust, that you may use all disposable power conferred by the Constitution to PROTECT US. Protect us from those who want to intimidate us, don’t join them, arrest those who steal our hard earned tax shillings, don’t encourage them, stop those who try to break the law, include the police. Don’t be sworn in at State house carrying a Panga in your hand. We have enough proof that Lucy is Mungiki and, that circumcising women is tantamount to rape.

We used to hear ODM supporters yeapin’ around about the existance of a “BIG BAD KALEO ARMY”, its been days since Kibor was arrested without any reaction from the “warriors” or even Ruto pulling out of the talks. I think with his arrest; alot has been exposed, the myth has been broken.

Ruto’s comments about Raila leaving Kenya for Nigeria also speak volumes His comments were “some of us do not have the luxury to escape”….what did he mean by that ? was he sending a message and to whom?? Is he willing to talk and save his skin?
Why hasn’t any pentagon member protested the arrest of Kibor?
It also amusing to hear Kalenjin athlet’s requesting for Kenyan government protection for being victimised of funding, training and commandeering the “warriors”. I thought they belonged to western kenya/RV government.

Are we witnessing the beginning of the END GAME for ODM and Kaleo’s?

Is Balala nerves that he could be next with his ARAB SLAVE TRADER’S-absentee landlords down in puwani??

You think about it….the end is near.

Are you people forgetting how Michuki dealt with the Mungiki menace? it was brutal. He just went into those slums and arrested thousands of them and killed off quite a few. There was no mercy shown to them.

Look, they can’t get everyone who was involved in the killings (whether they were Kikuyu, Luo or whatever). The reason they are focusing on the Kalenjin planners is because the scale of the violence they unleashed was different from what happened in other parts of the country.

And like I said before….the Luo’s are not going to be targeted. The violence in Kisumu was spontaneous and Kisumu has pretty much settled down, but what happened in the rift valley is very different.

Dennis Itumbi, AfricaNews reporter in Nairobi, Kenya, photo: Julius Mwelu (Repression of the Mungiki sect in Mathare, Nairobi)
[Exclusive interview] Mungiki leader Mathenge known as Mnyama speaks to Dennis Itumbi about the murders committed by the Mungiki. ‘True we have been killing people, but you have to understand us.’…’In Kiambu we run 4 children homes. You still call us lazy?’

AfricaNews interviewed Mathenge A.K.A Mnyama, the Mungiki regional coordinator for central Nairobi.

    AfricaNews.com: Hello

Mathenge: Sorry I do not respond to such greetings they have aspects of colonialism which we fought so hard in the Mau Mau period, look at the richness of greetings such as Thaai, or nyororokete (Spelling may be wrong) they represent a wholesome answer. (We skip the introductory section of the interview)

AfricaNews.com: When did you join Mungiki?

Mathenge: Eight years ago, then I was a tax collector, but I rose through the ranks.

AfricaNews.com: You sound educated. Would you wish to share your academic background?

Mathenge: After my high school education in Kangaru and Mangu high School, I joined the University of Nairobi where I did a BA in Philosophy with a bias on (Religious) logic, I then did my Masters Degree at St. Paul’s Theological College in Limuru and specialized in African Theology.

AfricaNews.com: So it’s correct to say that you qualify to be an ordained priest?

Mathenge: Sure, but I refuse to be ordained until African Theology takes over. For example ask yourself why do Churches take alcoholic wine and preach against it? Why are we told of vineyards instead of Maize plantations? Instead of pellets church leaders should have bread made from wholesome wheat, Facing Mt. Kirinyaga is a religious concept even Jesus faced the skies…focus is important and Mungiki has a focus.

AfricaNews.com: Are you involved in the post-election violence?

Mathenge: No we are not, those are just people who are using our name.

AfricaNews.com: What focus does Mungiki have other than killing people to scare others to do what they want?

Mathenge: First let me warn you that if this interview has to go on you have to ask about facts…

AfricaNews.com: Sorry to interrupt but it’s a fact that Mungiki has been killing people, just tell us why?

Mathenge: True we have been killing people but you have to understand us, even God in the Old Testament killed people who did not toe the line of the Law. We have been killing defectors, and those who refuse to pay their dues for our services and that will not stop.

AfricaNews.com: You are yet to answer why? That is after killing them you lose people who would in future have paid your ‘taxes’.

Mathenge: Young man! You do not understand. We do not waste our time. We ask you to pay taxes and if you refuse we act on you. No negotiations, Give unto Ceasar what belongs unto Ceasar.

AfricaNews.com: How many people are in Mungiki countrywide?

Mathenge: We had our last National Convention in April 2007 in Thogoto and we realized we had recruited 45,000 new members we are now about 2.8 million, of course excluding Women and Children.

AfricaNews.com: What are the benefits of joining Mungiki?

Mathenge: When I come to recruit you I will tell you, we don’t recruit through the media so I won’t answer that question.

AfricaNews.com: Politicians have been mentioned as being part of this movement. What is your reaction?

Mathenge: Sometimes I laugh when I see them denying and laugh more when the media refuses to read in between the lines.
AfricaNews.com: So now you have a chance to tell the truth. Tell me about the politicians involved?

Mathenge: I know you are going to interview ‘General’ (the underground name for Joe Waiganjo the acting leader of the group) so let him tell you, but let me tell you they are many and we actually sponsored a few of our members and they are now in parliament.

AfricaNews.com: So is Mungiki a criminal grouping or is it political?

Mathenge: It is political and religious. Look when Jesus came on earth he said he was the King of the Jews. That is political. Then he said he has come to restore salvation. That is religious and that is our mission. You don’t even need to ask that question. Remember the recent meeting in Michuki’s office. Why were these politicians meeting?

AfricaNews.com: Mungiki appears to be a group of lazy people who do not value the ethics of hard work what’s your reaction?

Mathenge: Lazy? You think it’s easy to raise Shs 2 billion a year? Look at our leadership and members do you see any of them begging? Simple because we do not use a microphone like you does not mean we are lazy we are very hard working, we patrol estates and keep security, arrest pick-pockets, settle cases of marital consequences, buy food for those who cannot afford, In Kiambu for example we run 4 children homes. You still call us lazy? It is you who are lazy, your job is solely to follow people.
AfricaNews.com: If you are so brutal on defectors why have you not killed Waruinge and he has publicly said he has defected or even Maina Njenga who has even been baptized?

Mathenge: They are alive because we know they have not moved, there are clear structures on how resignations of top leaders are handled, look they were once Muslims remember that conversion? Now they are Christians, maybe tomorrow they will be Hindu but the bottom line is that they are still part of us.

AfricaNews.com: Final question, if you became the President or the Minister for Internal Security how would you fight Mungiki?

Mathenge: I would adopt them as a crucial part of the economy

    anti-u,
the mungiki are generally a lot known to the police and their paymasters. i.e the state feels that they are within control, especially after last year’s crackdown that got about 500+ killed EXTRA-JUDICIALLY.
the guys who need to worry are those whom the state (michuki&co) feel to be OUTSIDE their sphere of control and who must therefore be ‘dealt with’ in the most expeditious way possible. (ie killed as the mungiki were last year when they were getting out of control)

    KE
the annan talks are not a waste of time as you put it. they’ve allowed alot of steam to be let off, and they just might land raila&co a (thin) slice of government.
