Kalonzo is not ready for prime time
I was watching a BBC interview last night and they had Kalonzo on to talk about what was happening in Kenya. I must say, I’m not impressed by him. I wasn’t impressed by him during his campaign either, but I ignored it since I never thought he’d end up being the vice-president. However, now that he is slated to become Kenya’s next president in 2012, he deserves closer attention.
Those BBC reporters are tough and well prepared and you better be able to answer their questions thoroughly and confidently. Kalonzo didn’t do that and it sort of surprised me. He was a corporate lawyer for years before entering politics, he was Kenya’s foreign minister for years….he should be able to handle those questions at this point in his career. The only reason I can come up with for his lacksadaisical performance is that he’s not particularly well read.
As much as Raila irritates me, I will say that the answers he gives to questions, shows that at the very least, he is well read. He is able to weave in broader geo-political issues when trying to explain what’s happening in Kenya, he seems to have a grasp of foreign policy and how different systems of governments operate, etc, etc; The only way you get that is through life long reading. Kalonzo’s answers, lack this level of sophistication.
Now, most people in the west, who decide to become president will usually spend the two years before they actually launch their run, getting tutored (you can’t know everything, no matter how much you read). And believe it or not, George Bush got tutored before he ran for office (believe me, he would have been much worse without it!). A lot of this tutoring will involve bringing in experts on various issues (economics, urban planning, etc, etc) and having them sit down with you and give you briefings. However, they will also recommend books for you to read so you can catch up with the issues.
Although I think Raila probably reads on his own, I do think Anyang Nyongo also provided a lot of “tutoring” sessions, especially on economic issues. Kalonzo is going to have to find someone like this to help tutor him over the next 5 years.
Why do I think this is important? because Kalonzo is going to have to convince the world in 2012, that Kenya is alright. He is going to become the public face of the country and you have to be able to speak fluently and authoritatively about the issues. Secondly, the media is changing. You have the internet, 24 hour news broadcasts, blogs, etc, etc…you’ve got to be able to handle all these people who’ll want to ask you hard charging questions.
I know some will ask: is Kibaki any better? I think before his 4 strokes and before that accident, yes….Kibaki was smart and well spoken, but those strokes have taken a toll on his health and I can see why he has to send people like Martha Karua out to speak on his behalf (no matter what you think of her, she sticks to her guns, she answers questions with complete confidence and she is not intimidated by anyone).
Why isn’t there more of a reading culture in Kenya? Even from people who can afford books!

I haven’t seen that kalonzo interview but I do hope you’re wrong.
If not, then the guy will have to style up major.
One thing I have to give ODM Credit for is that they are masters at dealing with media. This was evident during this whole election crisis.
ODM are confident, audible and answer the questions you throw at them, even tho they be lying to ur face.
I think the reason for this comes with the fact that they were the underdogs fighting against an opponent who was mightier, had more resources- cash, government backing, KBC Media, etc than the smaller quantities of resources ODM Had.
This especially happened during and after the 05 referendum. I think ODM discovered the power of Media, while the government side were lax, after all, they thought ODM Would splinter coz of all the people who wanted presidency, plus they had KBC To reach the entire nation.
basically, the government side grew fat and comfortable, while ODM, Being the underdogs engaged in extensive training, a sif they were for a big boxing fight.
What was the outcome ? ODM Won the day-in terms of media, perception, propaganda etc.
Nothing wa smore evident than after the elections when the government dispatched it’s agents and assistant ministers to tell the government side of the story on international media.
I recall seeing Danson Mungatana and Ruto being interviwed on Al jazeera. Oh my goodness, RUTO killed that guy on TV. Mungatana was slow, annoyingly slow, it’s like he was thinking in his mothertongue but taking time translate his thoughts in english, while RUTO Was quick, precise, to the point and confident.
Another sad failure was Peter Kenneth, this guy really clowned. I actually had more faith in him since I thought he was ex starehe guy, but apparaently being booksmart does not mean u can make it in politics.
This guy looked so confused and he was boring to the core,he kept repeating lines that did not sound authentic, he would be asked a question and always responded by starting ” the gvt of kenya……” b.s.
tHE repoerter got bored and cut the interview.PNU Is only slowly starting to realize how to manipulate media to ur advantage.
as far as media and presentation goes, I must admit, I love raila when it comes to this. He’s not afraid of being questioned, he comes out as confiedent and he always answers the question in regard to a larger or wider context. He brings in other factors that affect his answer and I guess that’s why the media love him, coz he’s not afraid of them unlike PNU Guys and Kibaki.
Raila strikes me as a guy who quickly sees where the current of winds is going and sails that way, he adapts quick, and mayeb that’s why he’s a good politician.
He never shys from answering the hard questions head on.
As for Kibaki, I Think you’re right on the health issue. I’m sure Kibaki was never this slow and boring. he must ahve has some dynamism in him.
The saddest case is Matiba. I recall seeing a clip of this guy when he was healthy and I was shocked. This guy was EXCELLENT, Briiliant, articulate, all of those. No wonder he was such a big threat to MOI. No wonder Moi impaired his health to that degree, he had to contain him coz matiba was really intelligent articluate and outspoken.
Hope Klaonzo improves.
I dont think that appearing good in the media is a solution to the problems that we are facing in Kenya right now.
The truth will always come out and people get tired of the spin anyway.
What we need is courageous politicians who will tackle issues with honesty without necessarily caring if they are popular. Otherwise we risk rule by the mob AKA populism.
This is what has driven Raila and Co. to destruction. Their lack of substance and violent agenda is beginning to sip through now and it is not pretty.
I have seen Kalonzo addressing crowds in person and I can tell you he is good. very good. With a bit of support and tutoring as you call it, he can be very very good.
As for Raila and Ruto, they are no longer fooling anyone, even the international media. The truth is out and they are villains. Their biggest mistake was to imagine that they could blackmail Kibaki to give up through violence. Kibaki managed to hold on until the truth was exposed.
The sad thing is that Raila is essentially a good guy. However, he was tricked by the Rift Valley Mafia who still harboured dreams of being in government again to continue looting like they did during Moi’s time. How could he not see their plan???? He has the most to lose because Ruto and the others are non-entities.
Believe it or not ODM is now the guilty party in the eyes of the international community. How dare they rock the boat in Kenya and threaten billions of investments????? That is where they lost the plot.
To come back to the point. Kalonzo is capable.
JOSH,
You’ve just introduced a new term that might gain traction : Rift Valley Mafia. Before it was Mt Kenya Mafia , Kiambu Mafia, now it will be Rift Valley Mafia.
I wonder, had Raila become president whether there would have been a Lakeside Mafia or something….?
anyway, good points you have. ODM are good at media, very good, but as u said, sooner or later, people become tired of Spin and the truth comes out.
Raila’s guilt is of sleeping with the enemy i.e ruto and those sycophants.
U said Raila is essentially a good guy ? I remember Raila’s history as one of opposing the establishment, that I’d give him credit.
But Ruto, he’s history is that of looting taxpayer thru YK 92 and land clashes.
However, looking at the last elections, RUTO Delivered Rift Valley for ODM. I mean they beat PNU by 3 times and that’s huge for a province like RV.
Ruto also proved Moi to be irrelevant in RV Politics, basically, he’s time for relevance was up. That’s why RUTO holds clout in ODM and has Raila’s ears.
However, recently, Raila has been softening his tone, saying he is willing compromise and not necessarily engage his hardliners. I think he’s trying to distance himself from RUTO , he knows he’s a liability and this is the time for such soft talk.
But u are right, kina ruto wanted to bring back the days of MOI of unprecedented looting.
I wonder if people remember what the MOI years were like before they decide they’d want to go back to that.
I mean, even nairobi wa a mess with street families, not kids, but families living…..
we need to move ahead always, not behind and I’m sure in the next 5 years kenya will be much differnt, especially infrustructurally.
MZEIYA
There used to be a Rift Valley Mafia during Moi’s days. It is not a new term. And they were pretty ruthless in their heyday. Remember Ouko, Bishop Muge, Matiba, Masinde Muliro, Solomon Muruli, land clashes and ethnic cleansing? It was all the work of the Rift Valley Mafia. Plus the utter destruction of the economy including Goldenberg and Anglo-Leasing.
The Rift Valley Mafia were trying to use Raila to get back in power. How did Raila become so blinded by such characters?
Kenyans have not forgotten the work of the Rift valley Mafia. That is why Kibaki managed to get mllions of votes without campaigning for 5 years!!!!
As I said, if Raila had supported Kibaki from the beginning, he would be on course to win 2012 with his credentials intact. That is now a dream in tatters. Kalonzo is the man for 2012 barring any emergencies!
Requesting for support from Ruto and Co was Raila’s biggest strategic blunder. He should have stuck with Kibak from the word go – even when Kibaki trashed the MOU. That is the nature of politics. He would have come across as a patient man and he would have got millions of votes in 2012 – including from Central and Eastern.
He is now being seen as a warmonger. This is a tragic end for a man who fought so hard. Just look at how he has lost weight in recent days.
Has he now learnt his lesson??????
JOSH,
Wow, u should be on this blog more often xplaining things with such historical context.
The Rift Valley Mafia did exist in moi days- was it knows as that ? and I’d have thought the likes of Biwott would be prominent ? or did he see the light and go a differnt direction ..? Coz him and Moi were with Kibaki during this campaign.
However, as for the rest I can see how it happened. I know Moi’s family had a major falling out with Moi’s number one proxy; Joshua Kulei. Kueli is a very strong ODM Supporter, courteusy of RUTO. RUTO Made this guy bankroll ODM into the millions. I think he’s the largest ODM Funder or among the largest.
I know for sure MOI Disliked RUTO from a while back, dunno why tho, so I’d see Kulei siding with RUTO and ODM To get at Moi and his family. No wonder last week Gideon moi was calling on the government to arrest the inciters of violence in the rift valley, a direct swap at RUTO and Kulei.
But JOSH..U are so right on Raila i.e if he’d been patient, 2012 would have been his. I guess that’s where humility and patience plays a major role in kenya’s politics. Look at Kibaki, who’s currently the longest ever serving MP. This guy was a finance minister, V.P Demoted several times, and still stuck with Moi.
Even after he lost the elections in 97, he sued Moi, took him to court and accepted the unfavarable judicial outcome. Then look where he is now, his patience and humility among humiliation paid off.
If raila would have accepted that the MOU Thing for what it was- yaani it wasn’t gonna work out, and continue serving in humility ( i know that’s hard) , he’d definitely would have been the president either now or 2012.
But I guess the sweet voices of RUTO & Co were to good to ignore. They promised him big things and they showed their clout with their money and power over Rift Valley. Now that dream turned into a nightmare, a very bad nightmare.
Josh, I still hold that Raila squandered a chance to show leadership right after the elections. There was a leadership void and that’s when kalonzo stepped in, calling for peace and look where he is now.
The decisions you make will either haunt u or help u in life. raila made a series of bad decisions that have come to haunt him.
ati he’s lost weight ? I haven’t noticed that , lakini labda ni mafikira na maswali mengi ambayao hayana majibu..
Raila has very little chance of ever becoming president now. Kalonzo just needs to play his cards right and the central and eastern votes will be his.
Josh bring more analysis..
Mzieya, Breaking news!!! there is going to be the formation of an interim government. I told you that all this was not going to last. Visa bans are very effective they produced results in a matter of hours. Kalonzo is not going to be the president in 2012 Mt Kenya mafia or Rv Mafia will get rid of his arse. They dont like him he is just being used to get his 800000 votes in case of another election and to solidfy the GEMA base. He will be singing someone elses song by 2012 he just rides the strongest wave, he will never be a wave himself. His whole political career has been jumping around from party to party to benefit in the short term but he has really never stood for any particular principle like Kibaki or Raila. When Toro was chasing the opposition around in the 90′s and putting them in detention the guy was busy waving one finger. He is not strong enough to be our leader he is just politically convenient right now. His performance on the BBC interview should give you an insight to his political prowess. I also wish Kibaki would hang on but the righting is on the wall my friend. It is over. Siku za mwizi ni 40 the rule is universal and it cannot be manipulated to favor a tribe.
Mzeiya / Anonymous
Powersharing will not change the way people are likely to vote in the next elections. The voting patterns will remain the same.
I do not think that Kibaki would get rid of Kalonzo so quickly. It would be a mistake and Kibaki is not stupid. Ask ODM and they will tell you this Kibaki guy is no pushover. PNU owes Kalonzo big time. He rescued them during their hour of need.
This is why I think that Mt Kenya will back Kalonzo for 2012. They know that another Mt Kenya candidate may be too polarising. Remember Mt Kenya mafia have a history of backing another candidate to suit their interests. I am talking about Daniel Arap Moi who was assisted by the Mt Kenya to take over after Kenyatta’s death. Moi used to be very popular in Central province, believe it or not! He only became ruthless after the 1982 coup led by RAILA and never trusted anybody after that event.
I still insist that Kalonzo is the man for 2012 barring any emergencies. But then again a week is a long time in politics.
Joint government will only entrench the current voting patterns – not change them.
hhmm
ANONYMOUS/ JOSH,
I Think you meant Moi was backed by Kiambu Mafia or at least by Njonjo, by then there was no significant Mt Kenya Mafia.
It’s true, kalonzo came thru for PNU. VERY Interesting things going on with talk of this power sharing deal. I wonder what that entails coz the ministries left in the cabinet are light weight ministries….clever Kibaki for securing the critical ones first and leaving the lite ones for ODM.
He knew they’d came around sooner or later..clever guy this one, don’t underestimate him.
let’s wait and see what the progress will be.
But still, there’s no way Raila will make it to presidency, even you have a better chance of being president, Raila nd Ruto -very unlikely.
Josh, Mzieya and …Anonymous
Not for nothing, But I think also the Nilote and Bantu factor will determine future govenrments, at which point the Nilotes will be on the losing side,
remember too that bantus out number the nilotes in a big way and if this precedent is maintained; I don’t see Nilotes taking over anytime soon, since majority rules in any democratic society. For Moi the presidency was offered to him, he was liked a lot in central until after the coup and things started changing.
Btw cushites are a non-factor when it comes to numbers, so that means they can go either way and not make a difference.
Thats my two cent, any taker’s
Not so fast guys. I believe there other dynamics that will determine 2012 elections. I think KM stands little chance of getting any votes outside eastern, Central and Nairobi. If he gets any outside these provinces it will be from people from these provinces in diaspora. The Kalenjin will not vote for him. I can bet on it. He couldn’t even get meaningful votes in Coast in 2007, after selling himself as a saved Christian, the Muslims in Coast and NE, will not vote for him. Outside Mount Kenya and Eastern, KM will be dusted/mincemeat. Whether he can win with no support at all from Coast, NE, Nyanza, Western and Rift Valley(except for pockets) and without rigging is anyones guess. My guess is that he wont make the 25%, 5 rule.
I haven’t watched the interview but I would be surprised that KM was not prepared for an interviewed with a foreign journalist. That would be a fatal mistake as foreign journalists ask tough questions. Was KM expecting a miracle.
I agree that Kenyans have a very poor reading culture. I would not be surprised that KM stopped reading upon graduation. Our reading culture is so bad that even at the University, students only read to study for exams. Few take opportunity to read magazines, novels, literature or even boigraphies. Few adults have any budget for books or membership to libraries. But almost everyone spends spare time drinking beer at smoky nyama choma joints.
KM lost many Kenyans respect when he failed to conduct meaningful campaign and instead tried to rely on miracles. The former chairman of LSK wrote a scathing article before the election pointing out how empty KMs presidential run was. The article was spot on. His election campaign depicted hims as someone who was not serious. May be this(lack of seriousness) is what KM is suffering from even today.
As for PNU not using press to their advantage. It is strange that PNU keeps commiting one blander after another, in the process rubbing the media the wrong way. Remember the standard raid, remember Lucy Kibaki storming Nation, remember the media bill. It is then not totally unexpected to discover that they have now lost the propaganda war on the election circus. No one believes Kibaki won, thanks to the press. In addition the visa bans will affect Kibaki and his associates more than ODM. Read todays’s article in the Nation titled “the US declines to reaveal the eight travel bans”.
At the end of the day, PNU and allies are the losers.
If Nilotes are not that many how did Raila amass more votes that Kibaki. Luhyas are bantus but they identify more with luos than GEMA. Remember only GEMA voted for Kibaki so I dont know where you learnt math but your numbers dont add up. The rest of the country are more democratic than GEMA they dont vote along tribal lines anymore and that is why they voted for Raila. I believe that Kibaki lost his popularity due to his brains off management style and his mentally challenged wife even manages to irritate a diehard PANUA. If you stay around your tribe only, you have a tendency to think that you are the only ones who live in Kenya. The imposters days are numbered he had to enjoy one more weekend in state house. visa bans proved to be very effective. Martha Karua was so pissed she had to ask the UK and the US if they think heaven is in thier countries but the idea of her kids returning to hell propelled her to soften her stance. One more thing if Kibakis brain was still sharp he would have pulled the election theft in a more intelligent manner, he would not have bugged ANNANS room just to mention a few dumb things he has done lately. As for Kalonzo he will never be president of Kenya as long Mt Kenya mafia exists they did not work this hard to give some useless disloyal guy the seat chances are he will make a deal with devil to win over the rest of the country in 2012 and they know it. It will water down their concentration of power and they cannot afford it. If you remember Moi unlike Kibaki had very influential men from every tribe. He had people like Kalonzo, mulu mutisya, kamotho, kanyingi who managed to get him some following from thier tribes and he had a very diverse cabinet so at the end of the day people were some what satisfied. PNU politics cannot survive in Kenya because Kibaki surrounds himself with his tribe only and Kenyans are a lot more sophisticated politically than they were 15 years ago.
Mzeiya who do you think is funding ODM? It is Kulei. He is not know for being a noisy fellow. Ni sumu baridi. It is not a rumor it is well known in ODM cirlces.
ANNON,
Yes it’s true, people would rather spend time and money drinking beer, eating nyama choma than indulging in any other thing.
remember of cases where the husband blows all his money at the bar, entertaining “ladies” (hos) with alcohol and nyama choma while kids go hungry in his house ?
I think one of the questions candidates should be asked during campaigns is what their favorute book is, altho alot of them will say the bible..
The thing with kibaki is that despite the unrest, his government is in full throttle already working.
In April, construction of the 70 Km By pass roads will commence, The JKIA -Gigiri expansion rd already begun, by mid next year, kenya will have high speed internet, and more bandwith.
Expansion of JKIA is all set for the first phase, now work is due for the second phase, The Port of Mombasa is about to begin a kshs 16 billion expansion programme.
They are about to build lite rail and rapid bus service from nairobi to it’s major suburbs to decongest it…..
These are things already in progress while the mediation continues. as tempers cool, people will and have already gone back to work/life. There’s small pockets of eruptions hapa na pale which will die down, remember when yu put out a huge fire, there’s going to be some small flames that spark here and there.
My point is that, the kibaki government is not stalling or stopping to first “mediate” then go to work, No. They are working and getting on with life and their election pledges, secondary school are already being subsidized.
within the next 3 years, all these infrausture projects being implemented will have a dizzying eefect on the wanachi. people will focus on improving their lives and getting the best out of it.
Remember the untapped potential that wiring kenya up to the outside world has.
Also remember one MAJOR ASS acheivement of this gvt is that they sold Telkom, thank God, it was about time. Telkom will rol out land lines in mass, they’l offer all the features of a cell phone on land lines, plus they have internet and mobile phone licences. that means prices will continue to come down, while it will be easy to set up call centers and outsourcing stations.
Remember GE, Google, Coke, Yum and Rubicam have already set up regional H/q’s in Nairobi. They did not do that so that they could have easy access to wildlife, no, they’ve done research and know the fundamentals are right.
My conclusion is that even tho the gava is giving this mediation thing a chance, it has already started working, and come mid 2009-2010, and the likes of Anyang Nyong may still be calling for mass protests….
Anon @8.01.
I thought Annan said his room was not bugged. May be you missed that story. Check the papers.
Ati I have a better chance than KM to ascend to the presidency! LOL! Thank you but I am not interested. I prefer to watch the circus from the sidelines. May be that is why they say that the Kenyan professionals are missing in action. They are not part of the process.
As for the winner of the press battle, it really doesn’t matter. What matters is who is in control of the state instruments. The holder of that position always has a great advantage. That is how PNU has managed to hold onto power against all odds. And that is why ODM wanted to be in that position by hook or by crook.
Initially, ODM had managed to convince the international community that only Kibaki had rigged. However, the longer the impasse lasted the more the details of ODM’s own rigging emerged. Now everybody knows that both sides rigged and hence the true result remains unknown – no matter how much each party insists that they won. In this stakes ODM emerges the loser.
This is because the international community would rather have the status quo than insist on installing ODM when the true winner is unknown. That is where ODM lost the strategic battle.
Remember people understimate PNU at their own peril. Behind the bumbling image of kibaki is a well organised, tremendously moneyed machine that is orchestrating events. Kibaki has a suberb team of advisers – and that is why he is still in power, even though he may have lost the elections.
My take is that the greatest losers apart from Raila are the Rift Valley Mafia. Things will never be the same in kenya again. The era of looting with impunity is now gone forever. And worse, they have exposed their innocent people as bloodthirsty savages who do not understand the modern economy i.e. willing buyer willing seller. Have you noticed that very few people have been evicted from the Coast province??? And yet it is an ODM stronghold. It is because their leaders told them not to do so. They have foresight.
NB: There was a Mt Kenya during Kenyatta’s time – Kibaki, Angaine, GG Kariuki, Mahihu, Mathenge, Nyaga etc They coalesced around Njonjo and defeated the powerful Kiambu Mafia to help Moi to become the president. The Kiambu mafia were people like Koinange, Njoroge Mungai, Munyua Waiyaki etc. That is all history. We are now living in a different era.
JOSH…
Cool, I meant you had abetter chance than Raila or Ruto not Kalonzo. Kalonzo’s chances are still up there.
Yes, as every day goes by, kibaki entrenches himself in power.
JOSH, I’m telling you within the next 5 yeras the changes that kenya would have undergone would be so great that people will not have time for retrogressive politics.
Just as we speak, the Nairobi stock xchange will in march go on with their bonds listing introduction to that market.
Also remember kenya plans to raise it’s sovereign international bond once all this melee is over.
The bonds at the NSE Basically mean that municipal councils, firms etc will be able to raise money thru that vehicle. If Nairobi needs to build extra sewage facilities, or water treatement plants or new roads, they’ll have an avenue.
That’s why kibaki is still working and doing business as usual. People will look back and see who the real culprit is.
and by the way JOSH, have u noticed how William RUTO Has been so quiet lately ? I mean, this guy never missed a chance to say something.
The more the stalemate stays the more the real ODM comes out. no wonder Mr RUTO and KOSEGY have been so quiet and disciplined.
we don’t want a kenya where impunity rules. these guys got too used to doing things as if Moi were still in power, very barbaric.
The other day, I relayed to you information that Nakuru and Naivasha were in the radar of attach from government agents supported by mungiki. Today, I bring you the inside story.
In a meeting chaired by John Michuki, various leaders from Central Province were tasked with responsibility of hitting back at the Luo community everywhere in Kenya . To Michuki and team, it is the Luo who have caused the Country to rebel against the Kikuyu colonial yoke.
In the Meeting, Chris Kirubi, Kabage Karanja, Joe Wanjui, Eddy Njoroge and Muhoho, Uhuru Kenyatta and George Thou were tasked to raise enough money to arm the Kikuyu in the event that the Luo retaliate.
George Saitoti was prevailed upon to avail military vehicles and bring out the GSU if things go out of hand. The GSU are to provide uniforms and arms to mungiki, and give them cover as they attack.
Maina Kamanda and Uhuru Kenyatta were told to buy more pangas since what they had already bought was deemed not to be sufficient. It is on record that Uhuru bought all the pangas at Nakumatt Ngong Road .
George Thuo and Linus Gitahi were to avail buses and vans to transport the mungiki and the arms to various parts of the country. To this end, George Thuo availed the following buses that took the first batch of warriors to Naivasha and Nakuru for the current mayhem;
KAY 658D, KAY 285E, KAE 126A, KAY 847L, KAY 194R, and KBA 219W.
The warriors were transported in these buses and the Nation vans from Nanyuki to their areas of operation.
As Kenyans who believe that the current planned killing of innocent Kenyans will not ensure victory for Kibaki, we are asking all Kenyans to come up and be each other’s keeper.
The church, and especially, Cardinal Njue, is in the mix of all this, and this is why he is not condemning Kibaki for the killings, but instead, tending to blame ODM for raising the issue of their victory that Kibaki stole.
The current mayhem, if left unchecked, will destroy the Kikuyu and all that they have worked for in Kenya . It is the Kikuyu who will loose and loose big. The Kikuyu cannot wedge a war against all Kenyans. The idea of attacking the Luo is misplaced, for we all know how ruthless the Luo are when provoked.
It is the Kikuyu property that will be destroyed, and all Kikuyus will be chased from all over Kenya . They cannot all fit into Central Province .
We must hence stop this senseless war being orchestrated by Michuki, Uhuru, Thuo, Gitahi, Saitoti, Karume and all those egocentric Kikuyus.
The Kikuyu must rise up against Kibaki, for it is Kibaki who has brought all this on our people. Had Raila been given his win, we could have been still as happily staying at all our various stations.

“KAMAU NJUGUNA”…You are a moron and I bet thats NOT even your name.
ANONYMOUS- You are one ignorant son of a bitch!Since when did Luhyas identify themselves with Luos.We are like water and oil,AFC vs.Gor Mahia etc We only did it for Raila promised to give Mudavadi the seat after five years to fulfill the Masinde prophecy. Do you know about this prophecy? I guess NOT!Bantus definetely outnumber Nilotes by far. Nilotes include KAMATUSA tribes and LUOS. Thats all,the rest of Kenya is Bantu and to a lesser degree Cushites.
MZEIYA-Kiambu mafia never backed Moi infact thy created a hit squad code named “Ngoroko” to eliminate Moi and his close confidants. The men behind Moi’s thrown were Eliud Mahihu,Njonjo, Kibaki and may be Kenyatta……if calling Mbiyu to go to mombasa…away from Nairobi was itended to pave way for a smooth transition. But for sure Kibaki was loyal but some experts question Njonjo’s intentions..(remember the “passing cloud” theme).
The more I read these Kenyan blogs the more I realize how ignorant Kenyans are regarding their history and real politik. Please look at the bigger picture. Its not just about Luos,Kalenjins or Kikuyus for that matter. This shit is deeper than what us lay people percieve it to be.May be I need to teach you all. Think about it.
ken;
the kikuyu being paid to retaliate and ‘protect’ property are better termed ‘gangmembers’ not ‘warriors’. the semantics make a world of difference.
and please take note of the word ‘property’ which is the only thing any kikuyu has ever fought for and probably ever will.
Ken
I have seen that piece of propaganda by the so-called Kamau Njuguna. Actually it is not new and it was crafted by the ODM think tank when it became apparent that they were losing the initiative on the violence that they instigated in the first place.
The fact is that Raila is not going to be the president of Kenya. That is the base line. He has frittered away his opportunity through the wrong choice of friends. The Rift Valley mafia had their own agenda which has NOW shocked even Raila.
He is looking for a way out but he is trapped.
KE: Careful what you wish for.. if kibz sends you a valentine… roocy will srap your ass all over town!!!
Mzieya is naivity and PANUA synonymous. Simply because Annan said his room was not bugged doesnt mean it wasn’t. Kibaki govt is not known for being truthfull and they are the ones who control the media. Annan wants to get the hell out of Kenya and he doesn’t want to further complicate the situation by talking about his bugged room. What politicians say is not gospel my friend you have to learn to read in between the lines. ANNON above told you Kallooser cannot be trusted I have learnt from reliable sources that He was in london bragging that the west wants him to take over because he is neutral. That whole Alliance is a facade that will soon crumble when news gets back to Mt Kenya Mafia. Dont be surprised if he is whacked and ODM will be blamed for his death because they will be the obvious assailants. My challenge to my fellow PANUAs is to think outside the box dont take things at face value they may not be what they seem to be.
wakenya wote. Why does it have to be kikuyu this luo this and whatever other tribe this. I just came from kenya and i can tell you that the tribal tension that i felt was one of the worst feeling i have ever felt. i grew with friends who i did not know what tribe they were nor did i care. We should be talking about building our nation and one thing i can guarantee y’all is that untill all this ol skool cats get out of the game and we the young generation take over, it’s just going to be the same shit over and over we will be recycling these pple miaka rudi miaka nenda.
please, am begging all of you tupendane and lets put hii ukabila aside. A lot of pple keep taking about tutauwa kabila fulani. its easy to say until you or your loved one loses their lives then you will know that its not a game or a movie that you are watching.
let us love one another and let us live together like we always have.
My learned friends,
I don’t intend to break your hearts anymore, but I wish to inform you that life in kenya has resumed back to 95% normalcy level. The only difficulties now remaining are; Food prices, Petrol(gas) and Traffic jams. This is worrying alot of groups led by ODM followed closely by NGO’s.
For ODM, their bargaining chip is actually chipping away every day there is peace and they know now with all the truth coming out, it will be difficult to cold start the movement again. They don’t like it when they see people moving on with their life like ODM never existed. Listen to ny’anyogo, his become the bull-dog of the party always threatening to distrupt people’s lives in his press conference’s.
For NGO’s, likewise reports show most people living in this Kenyan IDP camps are insisting on going back to their homes. Am sorry to say am not for IDP camps, this things might start a wrong culture of hand-outs like in neighbouring countries; Sudan, somalia and other countries. It has been noted that if one is stuck in a refugee camp for more than one year, it becomes difficult for that person to wake up and work again.
This IDP’s are usually promoted for the wrong reasons; mostly FUNDING and INCOME for the board of directors of NGO’s. Lets avoid having this camps in our country.
Please chart ways for the future in our discussions, not the past. We need to keep ignoring ODM instead of wasting our time discussing them. We need to escape from Raila-Ruto-Orange-utopia and come back to earth.
See you 2012…in the streets of Nairobi towards August House. Change is within you. The old guard is packing up….Young KANU is coming, KANU JUU. Tingisaa KiTolea……..( Kidolea)
Any taker’s., Over 2 U
PEPE,
ATI kIBAki control the media ? haha, which media apart from KBC? One of the main reasons behind the crisis is that Kibaki’s government allowed so much freedom and democratic space that the media were used to incite violence…KASS Fm, the standard with their skewed reporting.
ati You have learned from “reliable sources” about ANNAN’s intentions… idoit…kwani you and him talk one on one. Stop hiding behind this idiocy of “reliable sources”, anyone can say anything and claim to have learned from “reliable sources”
Just as someone mentioned earlier that he’d learned from “reliable sources” that mungiki is behind global warming….
you challenege me to think outside the box? Isn’t that what you should have been doing long time ago and not taking ODM’s word for it..lemmie ask you, did u participate in those mass demos called for by ODM?
It seems ODM Supporters in Rift Valley took william ruto’s words literally when they decided to butcher up people ina church.
Ati Annan Will be wacked and blamed on ODM?…..lol…seriuosly, u guy u need to stop watching re-runs of the sopranos, it’s getting to ur head.u also need to get ur head out ya ass! or out raila’s ass!!!!!
DEE,
THank u for that bit of clarification..
Mzeiya cool down and read properly. I said Kalonzo might be whacked Kenyans who went to see him here in London were talking about it. Of course the gova controls the media why do you here about stuff from south African Media before you here it on nation and standard it is because Michuki has to clear it first or they might experience his wrath like they did some years back. You are complaining about democratic freedoms that kenyans abused there is nothing wrong with democratic freedoms there is something wrong with us we want democracy but we cant play by the rules. Kenyans had high expections in and they were angry because they felt let down. If you cannot see it through their eyes you are one dense PANUA.
Very interesting discussion going on here. My take on this is that Kalonzo will get the backing of Mt. Kenya come 2012, but guys remember if Kenya manages to adopt a new constitution which creates the slot for a powerful PM then it’s going to be a a whole different ball game, the fight is primarily going to be over which party can manage to get the most MPs in parliament assuming that the PM will be elected by MPs. The reason I say this is because I think the position of a President will not be that much relevant anymore unless someone just wants to be on there for the cheese over influence.
MERUDAMU-Good point!Unless the PM position is non-executive like most other African countries eg Tanzania.
PEPE,
U Said Annan might be wacked, read ur post…
ati gava controls the media? name which media apart from KBC That the gava controls…STOP throwing blanket statements that u can’t back.
and ati we hear stuff from south african media ? Apart from those wild allegations about Annan’s room being tapped, what other information have we heard first from SA Media ? Again, please provide evidence or examples, don’t just yap yap your mouth like those ODM leaders who can never back their statements..
By the way, the source of that story is itself questionable. U need to learn to differentiate between real news and propaganda. If indeed Kofi Annan’s room was bugged, don’t you think it would have made seriuos news from the credible media houses such as reuters, or AP?
They probably knew of it but could’nt find reliable sources for the story apart from that gutter press report from SA.
I question that source coz ramaposa has extensive media holdings in SA.
Theres one thing kenyans need to know. We dont need a new constitution though we think we do. If weve failed to follow one weve known for 40 years, what will a new constitution do? Just hiding our faces in the sand. The present constitution gusrantees freedom of ownershi of property-weve urinasted on this. Freedom of worship -We enarly overturned this, Freedom of association -weve taught our sons to be raiders…….. were one lost generation hiding in the guise of a new constitution. The main problem is our heads, we dont think. I would really respect any man who would follow the present constitution to the letter, tghen we would know that its enough. Theyve only wanted it changed for their own purposes and intents. More power and cash! If your waiting for the new constitution to make any difference, youll be like Kisumu town waiting for ODM to come into power.
Cant that tribal chief now raise funds to rehabilitate kisumu? Simply because a better kisumu will not help him personally, it not in the cards. Im happy my father taught me to say no, to think and reason, and when the deal sounds suspicious to kick it away and ask whats next on the menu. I think i did exactly that with Raila and ODM. Kibaki may not be the best, but i can telorate him, than a bunch of hooligans and looters.
In fact Koffi annan should stay in kenya for 5 years as they try and sort out who won. Meanwhile, Kazi iendelee! After the 5 years, we can vote again. They have an idea what will happen. Thats why theyre now coming down on their demands. Crooks bel;ong to jail. I need to see the same constitution being used for both the rich and the poot. Period. Even if we have anew constitution being applied selectively, were going nowhere. Simply wasting money. Instead of talking about a new constitution, bring down the slums in Kibera and put decent 1 bedroomed units with that money. That will build a better legacy. Check the budget that weve used on Bomas, Goldenberg and stupid comittees. Take the crooks to court. Thats what we pay judges for. Use that money for the bypasses, and slum upgrading. Its enough. The big mouthed will always be there. You reduce their words by increasing the sense in your actions!
LEOEDD,
The people rejected the wako draft in 2005 and mwai kibaki decided to move to other projects.
He’s not the type to watse time politicking, to him, the people refused the new constitution, so he move sto his next project.
Kalonzo will NEVER, may I repeat, NEVER be president of Kenya. He is too weak, comes off more in California’s Governor’s words as a “girlie man.” He totally miscalculated this election and ended up on the wrong side. He only managed 800,000 votes, maybe President of Ukambani at the rate things are going.
