I used to admire Anyang Nyongo, but ever since he decided to become Raila’s houseboy his independent thoughts have been pushed aside in favor of Raila’s flip flopping radicalism and recklessness. I’m watching this video (fast forward to minute 1:00) and I can’t believe what I’m hearing coming out of Nyongo’s mouth – that the fascist Kikuyu government, pre-planned this violence (that would mean that they are therefore responsible for the displacement of almost half a million fellow Kikuyu’s).  Stunning, really.

When Nyongo first entered politics, he was not with Raila. He only switched when he lost the election and realized that nobody in Luo Nyanza could win without Agwambo’s special blessings. There’s a time Raila’s thugs burst into Nyongo’s house (when Nyongo was allied to Ngilu) and beat up his mother! rumour has it, she only managed to escape by kicking one of them in the balls (can Jaluo’s please confirm this rumour? thank you).

Nyongo’s brains should be put to better use.

  1. KE,

This is the sad thing about Kenyan politics or maybe it’s power.

It’s like alcohol, it makes the most sane, sensible minds sound like idiots.

I too was a long time admirere of Nyongo. He was always on point but I don’t know what became of him, for real.

Another casualty albeit not so influential is Koigi wa wamwere. He was one of those persecuted freedom fighters, but when he got to government, he just started ranting some things that did not make sense.

I think it’s politics and power, they can change any man.

Orengo too, I still like him tho his theatrics in parliament, his and ababu’s just showed them to be more of Raila ass kissers than people who could actually argue.

Ababu’s was the worst. I felt like bitch slapping the guy if I could. I’m sure there’s even people in ODM who were cringing and saying ” shut the hell up rookie..”

It is unlikely that the politicians will tell us anything meaningful whether ODM or PNU. Their main objective is to use this for political mileage. Kenya should appoint an international team to investigate if indeed the violence was pre planned and by whom.

Let’s keep our comments civil. No need of calling people names. It will not reinforce your points

Nyong’o has turned from an independent minded guy to a sycophant just like Martha Karua, my good professor Kivutha, Kiraitu et al. Yesterday’s independent thinkers turned into todays a*s kissers. However to some extent I have to agree there is some truth with what Nyong’o said. Kenyatta, Kibaki, Karume, Njonjo acquired large track of land from the settlers hence denying our parents an opportunity to settle in Central. Just look at the track of land from Kenyatta University to Machakos, owned by the Kenyatta family. We live in a capitalistic community, but there is something inherently wrong with what the elite in our community did right after independence.

As much as I am disappointed with Prpf. Anyang Nyongo’s descent into partisan politics. You misquoted him by saying the he said a Fascist “Kikuyu” government. He said no such thing…he said a NEO-FASCIST regime. Nothing about Kikuyu..those are your words…. As much I disagree with him…I think you taking those phrases out of context does not help anyone.

  6. Daud:

Nyongo is not going to use the word “kikuyu” (he is too smart for that) – but you know and I know that when Nyongo was talking about the “fascist”, he was referring to the kikuyu hardliners that surround Kibaki.

i think that the professor aint smart at all. the whole fascist thing just shows how much of a tribalist he is yet he wants us to beleive that he can be a good leader. all in all, he is just kissing ass and wants to be seen as a good boy in the face of agwambo so we can pardon him. politics in the end is just a bad game.

  8. I heard that age comes along with wisdom, but for Nyong`o only one of the two is applying, and you know which one. He should quit politics and specialise on ass kissing for his big daddy, Raila.

The acts of mass murder in Kenya are not new and they take place only because they are tolerated. The purpetrators are never prosecuted; they have in the past appropriated the land and property of those they illegally expel.

The crimmes have been extremely gruesome and have included rape and sodomizing of women and small boys.

In 1992 and 1997 Moi and his securocrats planned and executed mass killings, arson and displacement of Kikuyu peasants in the Rift Valley using Kalenjin and Masai youth sheltered by the security forces. Over 1000 people died and more than a million were displaced and lost in excess of $2Billion in terms of property and land, yet incredibly not a single person was proesecuted. The story being that they voted for Kibaki or Matiba.

Moi’s ministers for example ole Ntimama made very public and inflamatory incitement against the Kikuyu peasants who they found vulnerable as rural minorities and could be bullied.

Moi socialised his tribesmen that it was OK to bully and kill vulnerable Kikuyu peasants, rob them and eject them from their land as long as it was around election time. The crime was renamed “land clashed” and “political violence” to mask the simple fact that it was pure and simple genocide. The present violence has nothing to do with elections but is simply an expression of entitlement developed during the 24 years that Moi was president.

The matter of the disputed election as well as the genocide need to be dealt with as distinct and separate matters with the latter being more urgent and important as the right of life is infinately more important than democratic freedoms.

Raila Odinga publicly told a crowd in Kisumu, during thier funeral service less than a week ago, that they should not kill and expel Kisii people from kisumu because the Kisii voted for ODM except “the election was rigged”. The truth is that the Kisii actually voted for all parties including ODM and PNU. What Raila was in effect saying was that it was okay to kill those who did not vote for ODM and/or chase them from Kisumu as well as destroy their property. This was in public and reported by the print and electronic media. I do not think any further evidence would be required in a genociide tribunal esspecially taking into account that most of those who were attacked claimed that thier attackers were annoyed about their voting for kibaki and PNU.

The pholosophy set up by Moi wereby violence and genocide have been used as political tools will only end if this genocide is dealt with and all perpetrators are made accountable.

Moi needs to head the list of those to be put on trial unless he is somehow able to explain why he did nothing as president to prevent mass murder and why he tolerated inflamatory incitement from members of his cabinet.

A civil suit on behalf of the victims of recent violence against ODM and all its leaders is urgently required. The leaders of ODM needs to include the so called pentagon, all its MPs, councillors, all its candidates in the recent elections and any one who perticipated in their primary election, all officials at the secretariat etc etc about 15,000 people.

This is in my opinion legally justifiable as ODM has clearly demonstrated that violence against people and destruction of property to further political aims is part of their methodology and anyone who actively belongs to such a body in a leadership capacity is answerable.

Such a suit can be filed in a local court in Kenya without to much delay.

Damages would be in the tune of $5billion and would render the lot bankrupt for life, end their political careers and pass an important message that violence and genocide are NOT viable political tools.

We live in an age of consequences, not negotiation. Dont bother arguing with this, but within the next 5 years, many people would wish comments they made never came out of their mouths, statements they made in public against others were never made, that they never aloowed their sons to take bows arrows and machetes headed for tribal massacres, others would wish they warned their tribes against attacking and looting other peoples property, but the pain will be too much, wives will have lost husbands, Husbands will have lost wives, parents will have lost sons and daughters, and the pain will be too much, and the reason will not hold, that which made them die. The lessons learnt will be so painful, that once a politician tells you anything, you will think about your brother!

For all sincerety pse can anyone ask NAZLIN UMAR who organised boys to heckle her in Kisumu. Is Kisumu a preserve of Raila and his youthwinger Nyongo. Nationalist are people & politicians like Kalembe Ndile who was ready to contest Emuhaya seat and Nazlin who went to make announcement in Nyanza.

Raila & Nyongo have unwound the social & political fibre that was holding our nations together.

We cheered and made a monster out of ODM, no one condemned when LIVONDO was heckled and stoned in Kibera. The level of intolerance exhibited prior to campaigns and electioneering “doped” the masses.

Why was KIBERA open for TOURIST CIRCUIT (showcasing classical poverty), while progressive urbanite forces like LIVONDO (son of the soil) was refused entry to KIBERA.

We now know which cup NYONGO drunk from, birds of a feather, arrogance.

Pride comes before a fall !!!!
