Start-Up Junkies
I stumbled upon this documentary about a bunch of serial entrepreneurs who are trying to start an on-line postal service system. It’s an 8-part series and it’s quite interesting to watch if you are interested in entrepreneurship or business.
I’ve posted the first episode here, but you can watch all episodes by clicking on this link: (Start-up Junkies). The main thing I got out of watching this documentary series is why so many jobs have become expendable today. They’re too many people who are really overrating their abilities and overrating what their value is to their companies and you really have to watch all 8 episodes to get this point.
This documentary highlights one thing: If you want to avoid getting laid off today, you either have to go into sales and make sure you are generating significant revenues for a company or become an engineer and make sure that the company needs your technical skills to run their business and those skills are so highly tuned and so specific, that they cannot be outsourced to India or China. If you don’t fall into either of these two categories, then you are eventually going to become expendable.
** The video might skip in the beginning, but it eventually settles down. Let me know what you think after you watch this documentary. I’d like to get people’s views on what business lessons they got from watching this.
