mzeiya: huh? Why would you think lord is a jew?

(And even if he were... so what?)

P.S. When I read the Bible... I do think Lord as in Yahweh is a Jew. It seems He always favour the Jews. IMHO.

Ahhh.... and Yesu was a Jew. I came across a group called Jews for Jesus. So are they Christians or Jews?

BUT shouldn't NSSF invest in KENYAN firms to create Kenyan jobs first & foremost - per your argument - even if the returns are sub-optimal.

And what is there is a better expat fund manager. Would you spurn (the expat) him for a corrupt/inept Kenyan at the NSSF?

If I had the power, I would recruit Warren Buffet to replace the entire board of NSSF. In fact, WB is financially smarter than the entire board of NSSF. Past or present. You have an idiot like atwoli on NSSF's board. What does he do? He has half his family hired at NSSF.

After all you argue for lower-quality local Kenyan staff vs higher-performing expats?

I am all for Kenyan employers hiring Kenyans BUT the bitter truth is that many Kenyans do NOT have the requisite skills & experience. I hope this changes soon.

CT:
There's no contradiction. Asking the NSSF to invest abroad might bring better returns for the taxpayers of Kenya who are relying on that money for their retirement. I'm not asking that the kenyan NSSF managers all be fired and be replaced with foreign managers.

My point was, that kenyans should run their own parastatals, but that doesn't mean that they should disconnect entirely from the global economy -- they should run them WITHIN the global economy, but still maintain control and power of their organizations.

Don't give up your power to foreigners.

** Does the CMA have what it takes to ensure that the various brokerage firms are stable?

KE: You are full of contradictions.

Here you argue that NSSF should invest abroad for better returns YET you argue Telkom Kenya should retain under-performing Kenyans in its ranks. Don't you see the irony?

Using your arguments shouldn't the NSSF invest in under-performing Kenyan firms through shaky Kenyan firms because the money the NSSF invests is Kenyan money?

(BTW, all the 6 firms are not in trouble. Kenyan media reporting is PATHETIC. They are asking the CMA to ensure the 6 firms are stable e.g. CFC Stockbrokers is 100% owned by CFC Stanbic Holdings which is 60% owned by Standard Bank of S.Africa. SBSA is probably larger than ALL Kenyan banks put together!)

ole mibei & Lord:

I don't think either of you specifically addressed the issues in this piece, which was to tell us what is going on at the nse.

So, I'm still waiting for someone to tell us what those jivers are doing up there.

**More news:
The NSSF is now asking that an audit be done on all six brokerage companies before they'll invest with them. Why does the NSSF feel like it can only invest in Kenya? This is a global economy, think outside the box and invest in other countries if you don't trust the NSE.
