Wako is despicable...but no more so than Kibaki, who has been in government for even longer and probably has benefited even more than Wako. And thats not all, Raila is no saint either (remember the molasses plant in Kisumu anyone). All of our "leaders" are tainted. Which is why this whole farce of Raila calling Kimunya corrupt is like the pot calling the kettle black...classic hypocrisy. Seriously, this whole fucking government needs to go, I am so sick of their shit.

.....There for from your 'logic" ( All Mps supporting taxation) will be CENSURED by paliarment!!! This is Kenya

I think it is wrong to accuse Kimunya without giving him a chance to defend himself.

There must be a documentary evidence regarding the sale of this hotel. Let it be tabled. If Kimunya has done something wrong let him be fired or prosecuted. That is the way things should be done.

I fear Orengo may still have his activist instincts in him forgetting that he is now a cabinet minister. That is no way to run a govt.

Let all ministers give an account of how they have spent their allocated budgets. Then we will see who is clean!

As for Wako, he is a deadwood that should have gone a long long time ago.

WG:

I'm not sure if it was Aoka Ombaka. I"m still trying to find out, but these orphaned kids were going to college in the states and when their parents died and Wako stole all the money, Moi (believe or not) is the one who stepped in to pay their school fee's and their rent. Their father had done some legal work for Moi and they knew each other.

Proud Kikuyu Woman:

Yes - that's a good point. He does have security of tenure, but isn't he on some sort of contract that has to be renewed? So, once it's renewed, you can't fire him for the duration of that contract period, but if you didnt want him in that office, you just wouldn't renew the contract. Is that how it works or does he have a lifetime appointment?

The AG position should be an electable position like it is in America. That way, if the AG doesn't perform, the people can vote him out every 5 years and he should also be subject to parliamentary oversight so that if they find he is being corrupt, parliament should be able to impeach him and get him out of there even before his term of office ends.

You have to be able to either fire people or prosecute them because this is the only way to ensure that nobody is above the law (not even the president).

It's a shame to hear that

I really respected the guy and admired him on how he has been able to maintain his career for long time.

He must be very swift and lucky if he has never been caught even once

However I pity Kimunya regardless of whether he's right or wrong I see it to be more of character assassination.

Considering he occupies the most envied position in any cabinet in the world.

Plus he attempted to pass a bill that mp's should pay taxes

most mp's secure their seats desperately by even mortgaging their houses to finance campaign

Now when kimunya proposes to burn a hole in their pocket. i don't think any selfish guy like our mp's would tolerate such a person.

I think kimunya can make a very good business executive who makes well founded business decisions.

unfortunately corporate principles are not acceptable in the public service.

Parliamentarians withdrew favor from kimunya the moment he stopped serving their selfish interests. An independent / private audit should be conducted in every ministry from time to time and that way the likes of wako will soon be caught.

Mike Ndegwa

KE: Are you thinking of Aoko Ombaka (sp?)...

It's incredulous that this man has lasted this long in government. Beyond his sinister and evil demeanor, what does he have (leverage) that has kept him this long? That is a lot of change (assuming he does not have other swiss/cayman/whatever accounts)...Most times I wonder why the West gives additional aid for all the various causes like hunger etc etc...Maybe they should just give up and let public outcry (threat of lynching) by the masses drive the return of all this loot... Yeah, right...must be a movie I was watching the other day...

I was really disappointed when the first united NARC govt (pre-referendum) did not get rid of this nincompoop. It also showed me that the NARC govt was not as good intentioned as they had portrayed themselves to be.

He should immediately go. Better still, he should be in prison.
